Season 34 – 1955 Grand Prix – Round 9 – Bremgarten
The ninth race in the 1955 Grand Prix series takes us to Bremgarten in Switzerland. Bremgarten is situated to the north of Bern and was built as a motor cycle track in 1931. The circuit itself had no true straight, instead being a collection of high-speed corners. From the outset, it’s tree-lined roads, often poor light conditions and changes in road surface made for what was acknowledged to be a very dangerous circuit, especially in the wet.
The Swiss Grand Prix was held at Bremgarten between 1934 and 1939 and again between 1947 and 1954. In 1950 the Swiss Grand Prix was included in the new Formula One World Championship. The race was won by Italian Nino Farina, who would go on to be the first Formula One world champion. In 1951 Argentine Juan Manuel Fangio dominated in his Alfa after taking advantage of Farina's wrong decision not to make a pit stop to change tyres during changing wet-to-dry conditions. In 1952 newcomer Stirling Moss ran as high as third in his underfunded Alta-powered HWM, but the race was won by Italian Piero Taruffi who scored his first and only F1 victory. In fact this Grand Prix was only championship race (other than the Indianapolis 500) not won that year by Alberto Ascari. In 1953 Ascari had to make a pit stop to fix the misfiring engine in his Ferrari. He left the pits in fourth place and stormed round the circuit, passing Fangio in a Maserati, and his teammates Farina and Mike Hawthorn to take victory. Ascari also won his second Drivers' Championship at that event. In 1954 Fangio (now driving a Mercedes) led from start to finish in rainy weather to take his second Drivers' Championship from countryman José Froilán González. Bremgarten has not hosted an official motorsports event since 1955, when spectator racing sports were banned in Switzerland. Please read the championship specific rules on the championship standings page.

Password: see aboveDriver lists can be found on the championship standings pageHandicapping and chassis allocation. This season the 1955 Grand Prix cars will again be using a token system which allows drivers to purchase any chassis of their choice for a given number of tokens as published on the championship standings page. Drivers classed as Amateurs will be allocated an additional 10 tokens. The token allocation will not be managed in SRou this season so (unlike the 67F1 Works and 67F1 Privateer divisions) the tokens available to each driver will not appear in the championship table (when the mouse pointer is hovered over the driver's total). Rather, the available tokens will be published in the race announcement. See table below. This has to be the most difficult circuit of this season!
I have not yet managed to do more than a handful of laps without belting something! And when I try to back off a little it gets worse!

Practice sever is up on IGOR. I've got to go out today, I might not get back in time to restart the server for the race. If I'm late back hopefully one of the other mods may be able to provide a server.

Sorry for the rear end Fulvio, my fault entirely. Hope you can carry on. After that I lost concentration and crashed at T1 on the next lap. I did loads of qually laps with no problems. Very disappointed with myself.
Great authentic track for these cars, if not a little unforgiving.

I've loaded the chassis the drivers used into the token calculator spreadsheet. For the next race the available tokens will be as declared in the table below (the table will also appear in the next race announcement). The calculated values are automated but selecting the cars is a manual process so please check your tokens to make sure I haven't made a silly error. There was no token overspend for this round so no one is disqualified. Driver | Tokens | Status | Alessandro Isacchini | 13 | Pro | bagrupp | 10 | Pro | Clive Loynes | 8 | Pro | Cookie | 12 | Pro | DLogan | 5 | Pro | EvilClive | 26 | Pro | fpolicardi | 0 | Pro | Gareth | 5 | Pro | Jeep | 0 | Pro | uli | 6 | Pro | francesco | 20 | Am | Phil Thornton | 10 | Am | Rich Welsh | 18 | Am | tagomago | 100 | Am |

Np Phil, I could continue even after Uli had crashed on me, lucky to remain on my foot After you retired I had a long duel with Francesco till he went wide at T1. Very unforgiving track, I had several contacts with steel rails on left that made the car slower on right handers. Ciao

Thanks Phil,
We seem to have lost Bremgarten from the bottom four tables on the championship standing page.
I had a silly race. Whilst having a comfortable lead over Bastian with five laps to go, I had a sudden itch on the side of my nose. By the time that I had finished scratching my nose I had clouted the wall and lost two wheels!
Must remember to only scratch my nose when I'm in the middle of the track!
Congratulations to Bastian, Fulvio and Uli. And all finishers.

Not a bad race but at lest 3 error have compromised my final position. The one mentioned by Fulvio cost me the second position than another have facilitated the comeback of Uli and the third position.Probably Uli would join me anyway, since hes time on lap. Is possible to have the replay?i have not saved it.

Congratulation Bastian and Fulvio and congratulation for championchip win to you Clive!
