Season 43 - 1955GP - Round 8 – MonzaThe eighth and final race in the 1955 Grand Prix series finds us at Monza in Italy. The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is a race track located near the city of Monza, north of Milan. Built in the Royal Villa of Monza park in a woodland setting, the circuit has gone through numerous changes over the years. Perhaps the most striking feature in the park is the steep banked (sopraelevata) curves on the now defunct 10Km variant, first used in 1955. The original circuit (used between 1922 and 1933) also had an oval section but the banked curves were not as wide or as steep as the later 1955 variant. The banked circuit was used on four occasions for Formula 1 races; in 1955, 1956, 1960 and finally in 1961 when it was decided that Formula 1 cars were just too fast to be safe on the oval track. The banked oval section was last used in any capacity in 1969. From 1962 onwards, the Formula 1 Grand Prix was held on the "road circuit" which by the early 1970s was also deemed to be too fast for Formula 1 cars. Two chicanes were introduced for 1972 Italian Grand Prix, one at the Ascari curve and another on the approach to the Curva Grande. Please do NOT post chat messages during qualifying or racing until ALL drivers still qualifying or racing have crossed the line. Driver lists and division specific rules can be found on the championship standings page. Please note: A total of 19 drivers registered for the Works and Privateers so there is no need to run two servers. Consequently one server will be used but the Privateers will have their own championship.

A pretty good race for me but it didn't start well. In the early laps I got caught out by the draft and red brakes and went wide at Parabolica. That dropped my back a lot of places but I latched onto the train so I still had a draught to help my Ferrari 625 gallop along. Unfortunately a couple of laps later there was a crash ahead (at Parabolica again!) and I had to drop to walking pace to avoid the carnage. At this point I was off the back of the pack with no tow. I pushed as hard as I could in the hope that mistakes ahead would help be get back into the race. I'm not sure what happened ahead but I did pick up a few places and had a titanic struggle with Doni on the last 3 or 4 laps. A close finish with Syd right on our tails. Very happy with a P6 in the end especially given the amount of silver on the grid Big congrats to JonnyO for the championship and to Francesco for the Privateers championship.

Thank you Farina!, but actually this 55th championship was a bit confusing, I think for most of the drivers. We have all had unnecessary accidents and also natural accidents beyond our control, such as disconnections and other types of misfortunes. But what sets us apart from other leagues is, our friendship has been around for perhaps a decade or more, we are all known for our friendship and trust, this makes us different from the others, I hope to see everyone in 2024. In this Sunday's race, I was able to develop a different setup than the default one I normally use. 1 hour before the race I was able to join the server practice and develop something for the open-wheel Mercedes. I believe I managed to have a car that was very easy for the race, and fast enough for qualy, pole was a surprise for me, and that gave me some confidence in my race pace, although at the beginning Fulvio was very fast in his Lancia, he He was a hero among so many Mercedes, but I think he made a small mistake in the last corner. This gave me an advantage and I only had to manage one pace until the end. Unfortunately Loynes couldn't challenge me in the race due to being delayed by an accident in lap 3, I'm sorry, and I hope that next year it will be more regular for everyone.

I think you speak about Evil's Lancia Anyway an unexpected good race for me that gave me an unexpected third on Championship, even if someone tried to kill me at Para lap 3 Watching replay I noted a bad reaction after another crash in Para, I do hope I misinterpreted that

Grats to JJ on the championship , and to everyone who took part in this season. I cannot complain at 2nd place in the Lancia, although I almost threw it all away early in the race. A good start allowed me to get onto Jonny's tail and I had gambled on getting some slipstream with a loooong 5th gear. When the chasing group had a major moment it was Jonny in 1st and myself on a tow rope in 2nd place. I just had to sit there and get dragged around by the Merc. It was so easy that I fell asleep and missed the turn in point for Parabolica atrip through the gravel broke the tow rope but did no damage. TBH, even if I had stayed in JJ's slipstream until the final lap I doubt that the Lancia with long gearing could have taken the win, so 2nd was always the best that I could do. Too many DNF's and the disaster at Aintree when leading srewed my season.......but there is always 2014

It was good race for me until I run out of talent again and lost the car at Parabolica. So sorry for the people that got involved there and Clive Loynes who got the chances to fight on lead lost by the accident. I lost the rear of the car and tried to keep the car without abrupt changes in direction but the cars were too close. On two races I damaged the chances of two contenders, I'm sorry for these situations. I will try to drive cleaner and finish more races on the next seasons.
On the other hand, it's always a pleasure to race the 55's, thanks for the organization!
Merry Christmas and a happy new year everyone!

.......................... So sorry for the people that got involved there and Clive Loynes who got the chances to fight on lead lost by the accident.
No problem Moises, these things happen. I'm really bad at finding a tow in qually and as a result ended up 5th or 6th on the grid. I was committed to a patient approach, which appeared to be working fine up until Moises' spin. I was amazed to discover that I still had a working Merc and must apologise to Fulvio who suffered my bad rejoin. At that point the championship was vanishing up the start/finish straight and if I didn't just go for it then I was sunk anyway. After contact with Fulvio, I was left in the gravel and facing the wrong way so my next rejoin was somewhat delayed. I entered Parabolica in 4th and left in 14th. After that it was head down and hope for some misfortune at the front of the pack. I struggled to pass anyone as everyone was in a slipstreaming column of cars usually being towed by a Merc. When another Merc began to lose it in Parabolica I was more alert to the situation and was able to spot it soon enough to avoid the carnage. That gained me three places at one go! I had a good clean battle with Albert, and finally got the better of it, which left me chasing down Axel for 4th. Axel helped my cause by putting himself in the kitty-litter at parabolica. So 4th was the best that I could manage. Thanks to UKGPL for running the series and congratulations to Jonny and Fran for their well earned championships. Hope to see you in Season 44.
