Season 44 F1 1967 WORKS – Round 4 – HOCKENHEIMThe fourth race in the 1967 Works Grand Prix series finds us at Hockenheim in Germany. In 1965, when the new Autobahn A 6 separated the village from the main part of the track, an updated version of Hockenheim circuit was built, which incorporated a new "Motodrom" stadium section. Two fast chicanes were added after Jim Clark was killed on 7 April 1968 in a Formula 2 racing accident. A small memorial was placed at the site of his accident near the first chicane. In order to improve safety even further, the track was lined with crash barriers in 1970. But the track was still dangerous and claimed the life of Patrick Depailler in 1980. So in 1982, the first chicane was made slower and a third chicane was added at the Ostkurve (east curve). In the early 2000s, Formula 1 officials demanded the 6.823 km (4.240 mi) track be shortened and threatened to discontinue racing there. So the state government of Baden-Württemberg secured the financing for a redesign by Hermann Tilke ready for the 2002 German Grand Prix. The new "Tilke Track" was not universally popular and many drivers preferred the long circuit. Sadly the old circuit was torn up and replanted with trees thereby preventing any chance of reinstating the long circuit for Formula 1 or indeed using it for historic car races. THERE ARE MORE THAN 19 REGISTERED DRIVERS IN THIS SERIES, SO : The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available. Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join. If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left. Please READ CAREFULLY THE RULES : A driver must cross the start line in order to register the use of a chassis, participation in qualifying is not sufficient. The tokens system will be used with drivers being awarded tokens for starting the season and for starting each race. Each car will cost a number of tokens per race. Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents carry an extra 1 place penalty. Drivers must complete 50% race distance to score. MOD PRO so no shift-R Only reported incidents will be moderated. Please, excepting emergencies, no chat until Session Completed in qualification. No chat in the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Good afternoon gentlemen: I had problems with this track in the previous race in mod 55 and now that I am doing my rehearsals, it keeps throwing me to the desk, especially in the stadium area, since I step on the grass and it throws me out of the game. Is it possible that I am missing a patch to solve that? I would appreciate any help. thank you

It's been mentioned a couple of times recently for other races at this track, but if you experience crash to desktop (particularly at the approach to/in the stadium section) then be sure to apply track updates or use a good track install. See HERE Ideally test before the race

Yes, Thanks Cookie. I copied your entire track folder right after the 55 race. I like the scenery better in your version also, though the asphalt colors makes it more difficult to see braking zones, but anyways, no more CTD with your track folder! Cya in Germany tomorrow fellas.

I'm on vacation, but I managed to install GPL on a computer where I am, and I joined the race using PS4 controller. I was slow, but I was just going to try and stay out of everones way and perhaps get to 50% distance for points. My connection was not great, and at the start everyone disappeared. I saw the green flag drop, so I started, and that's when everyone reappeared. But GPL it seems lost me there, and my laps were not counted. But I did start, and I crashed out on lap 4. So I should be getting the tokens for taking the BRM. I did have a issue with pribluda. Offline, it was showing all the data. But online the upper right corner (relative to player and on track distances) was not visible, so I couldn't tell where people around me were. I tried adjusting fonts in pribluda ini file, but it didn't help.

That was very tough, I was flat out the entire race. I got a decent start and I managed to nick a place off Doni as we entered the stadium section at the end of lap 1. In the early laps I was trying to hang onto Enrique with Doni snapping at my heels. After a while Doni got past me and in my desperation to stay on terms I clipped the white line under braking into Sachs Kurve and I did a 360 onto the grass. I recovered behind Roberto and just ahead of Renato. The rest of the race was full on sprint with the gaps between us hardly moving. Roberto must have been feeling the pressure because with a handful of laps to go, he had a spin in the stadium section and gifted me the place. Great racing gents.
Grats to Tris on the win and to Evil for a close second place. I saw him leading on Prib a few times, so it must have been very close at the front.

very happy with my result, I was the best positioned BRM, behind about 8 eagles, a bramy, a lotus (which I was behind almost the entire race) and a spectacular honda, which entered the top 5 of the eagles, very good job for that rising sun Unfortunately my partner Jonnie blew up the engine very early and a great opponent left me in the same car, actually he made me sad...... The rest was to hit that whale as quickly as possible and it went quite well since I only made a slight mistake and Dony passed me, on his BT, but on the straight the BRM is faster and I was able to recover my position, the rest of the race was to stay behind the Lotus since I couldn't catch up with it and that's how it ended. I expected a greater number of victims but almost all of us finished and I really liked that. Congratulations to everyone for their excellent driving. and to the podium. I think I already have good koins saved and I can now plan my strategy for the next races. Thank you for the server and for the effort you make so that we have a pleasant time.

Today felt like a repeat of WWII in the Pacific Theatre in 1943 with the P-Zero's taking on the Mighty F6F Hellcat.. It was a losing proposition. In Qually, I managed a PB lap of 1:51.4, good enough to put me in 4th. My goal for the start was to stay on the tarmac in T1, and use the draft of the leading Eagle Squadron ahead to tow me along and keep me ahead of the trailing eagles. This did not work, they could easily pull 4-5 tenths on me by the time we shifted into 5th gear, easily taking me out of the draft. I was a sitting duck and slotted into 6th. From there, I relied on mistakes or maybe a shredded Gurney V12 to help me move up, but apparently Dan had them all buttoned up. I did manage a great battle with Arf after he had spun going into Ost Curve, somehow it survived a direct hit into the wall and bounced him the right way, only losing 2 seconds to me. Lol I let him back by, hoping I could draft by in the final lap of force him into a mistake, but it was me who ran wide in the 2nd to last corner. Overall, I'm very happy with my performance in the White Whale. I honestly thought the top speed of the Honda would allow me to keep up, but America per usual wins out again.. ? Congratulations to everyone who finished! Some great racing today.. JS

Worked hard all race with a virtually error-free run to finish...P11. Sigh... I was expecting many, many more DNF's especially from the Eagle users but it just didn't happen.
Got away cleanly from the grid to trail Phil and could nothing to challenge. I opted for a very tall 5th gear to be kind to the engine and it may have been just a little too conservative. Sorry to see Jonny suffer an engine failure so early on. At least that let the rest of us close in on his title lead. Finally got close enough that on Lap11, I was able to slipstream by Phil and take off after Ricky. Phil was always in a position to counter-attack til his spin in the stadium on Lap13. Ricky cuffed the fence on the exit to Ostkurnve on Lap19 that allowed me pull alongside and make the pass going into the stadium. Up to P10. All for nought, though, as Ricky easily breezed by on the next long straight. Held my position for closing frames as the vision was getting a little sketchy and with its very high speeds, this is no place to be over-enthusiastic. As well, I did my best not cut any corners and only scored three '64' laps thanks to minor errors in the stadium.

I had made my setup a little to save too, no chance to follow Clive, Tris or Alain with my long gears but I wanted to finish this race on my home track! Alains Ostkurve mistake made my podium, and a consistency of < 4tenth per lap

Grats to Tris and Axel on the podium spots. The Eagle would appear to be THE car for Hockenheim. It sounds like I was not the only one who played safe with the gears. I added an extra click on 5th just before the start and I expected the engine to still max out in the slipstream. But, instead I found that when following Tris, he was actually able to slightly stretch his lead on each straight, which was not part of my plan. Despite that problem I was able to hold onto Tris and was ready to pounce whenever he made an error. He did make a couple of small excursions and I did get ahead for a few laps. But it was me who made the biggest error towards the end of the race, when a momentary lapse of reason out of the last corner made me too heavy on the gas and the Gurney V12 obliged with way too much wheelspin and a 360 spin. That brought Axel very close and threatened my 2nd spot. I had to focus and force the pace to drag out a safe gap for the last few laps. My spin had allowed Tris to completely escape and any chance of stealing 1st spot would rely on him making a big mistake. We had been very close on lap times and it required a mistake to decide the result....so I supplied that mistake . Very fast and very close for the early laps and still requiring high speeds for the last laps. Great racing guys.

Jonathan!!! We had a laugh about it in the comments after the race but I would, not like to have been you last night. Clearly a faster driver in a slower car, I found I could let you get close in the stadium because I knew that I'd just whizz past on the straights and make enough of a gap. That was 17 credits well spent for me What's worse for you is that originally I had the same plan - take the Honda, as I assumed I could set it up for fast following. I couldn't make it work in the 30 mins prep for the race I ended up with. I therefore made a last minute jump into the Eagle and was pleased to get a reasonably stable setup quite quickly. An engine blow up in qually persuaded me to add 1 or 2 clicks on top gear for the race, which may also have made the difference. As for my single spin of the race... I always try to do fuel "properly", i.e. don't accept the setup indicator of this much fuel = this many laps. Last night I decided that the Eagle needed about 0.7 gallons per lap, and calculated what the means for the race. It can obviously makes a big difference if you need 0.70 or 0.77 gallons and last night my rounding was wrong. I did finish with 0.3 gallons, but in the middle of the race I was more focused on shouting "Hey Google, what is 12 gallons divided by 0.7", to hear my phone tell me how may more laps I'd survive - ridiculous Anyway, with my dodgy regional accent, it frequently misunderstands the question and I was trying to repeat the question far too far into a corner and didn't brake in time.. lucky to survive.., maybe I'd have been able to fight Alan for 4th if that hadn't happened.... still great test of concentration to keep Jonathan behind me, so I was happy at the end. I didn't see his moment on second last corner, but he was still only 0.8 secs behind me - too close for comfort, but lots of fun.

I can't complain, this time the game's mathematics hit me, a piston!!!!!
But I must admit that I did two podiums in a row with BRM, counting on a lot of luck or bad luck from other drivers.
But I was excited about the potential of my H16 for this track, it's a shame I didn't have time to appreciate its real possibility.
I watched the race afterwards, congratulations on the podium and a special mention to Steiner who made it rain with the Hondola!
