Evening all... I'd love to race, but unfortunately I must heed the call of the pub, so consider my place open. Have fun.

I decided to be different, and did a disco - survived long enough to do battle with a couple of late starting front runners, until my untimely demize. It may be time to start a parallel points system, open to those who are frequently misplaced, dis-raced, or disgraced. The winner, would be most frequent looser!

Results are in and we won - just. If one more GPLRACER had managed to finish it would have been a draw. Replays are here

Decided to 'have fun' on UKGPL3 as T7 was full (or so I thought). Brands is OK but not one of my favourites. Lack of practice showed and after a good first lap had a couple of spins that put me well down. Had to reset so I waited for Nigel so that I could have a race but lost him within half a lap and crashed again. Rest warmed the tyres and then... crashed again. Ho hum. Wait for Nigel... this time I stayed with him and he went wide on the last corner, great I thought, I can catch right up here and took a tight line, clipping the grass, spinning and crashing into an innocent hay bale Rest was REALLY slow so that I could race Nigel again (albeit three laps down). Zoomed out and crashed in Dingle Dell. Gave up. Spa is the last race of the year for me and it had better be an improvement!

Thanks to GPLRacer for making this an Interleague Event and giving us some great competition.
Not my best ever race, despite a reasonable qually that got me 3rd spot on the grid behind two very quick GPLRacers.
The gearing on my Honda gave Paul Skingley the opportunity to steal 3rd spot before Paddock Hill bend in his Ferrari as we started and I was back into 4th. The first few laps were very quick and although I felt that I could have gone slightly quicker , it was not enough to make a pass on Paul's Fezza. So, I set about hassling him from behind in the hope that a small mistake would provide an opening, There was a small mistake but it was mine, not his!!, and a half spin that refused to be corrected with armfuls of opp lock and much jiggling of throttle pedal ended with my car parked on top of the grass bank. Some quick gearchanging with revving and rocking got the car off the bank and back on all 4 wheels so that I was able to rejoin the race somewhere near the tail of the field. But a lap or so later it transpired that I must have damaged the engine as everything went very, very quiet approaching Druids...race over. Grats to Paul for the win and well done to the rest of the UKGPL team for getting the points victory, sorry I was unable to contribute.

Yeah I'll second Clive's comments re thanking GPLracer for a great event.
I had a bit of a tough time and failed to get to grips with a few corners...especially Surtees. I watched a few of the fast guys before heading out and observed a variety of lines, which was interesting.
I actually pulled together a half decent qually lap and made a reasonable start. After about 7 or 8 laps my front tyres were overheating and I started to struggle. A few moments made sure Fulvio caught and passed me. A few spins and moments relegated me further and I started trying to oversteer out of corners to save the fronts, which seemed to work, at least in cooling the fronts. Perhaps my setup left a lot to be desired, but is this the way to drive the BRM? I saw a few others swinging their cars around.
Wishing you all a great Christmas and New Year, see you in 2012!
Bob.
