Back to the UK for the next races and an old favourite, Snetterton. The F2's go well here and with the horsepower available to the Lights limited it will require some serious work around the twisty bits. I cannot recall racing the 69x's around here so that should be a lively race and once again the Lights are going to have to work hard. . A single Shift R is allowed but no SnG is required. Race List = IGOR Server = TBA IP address =TBA Race date = 14-2-2014 Race time = Race 1 starts at 21:05 UK timeQualifying time = minimum 15 minutes, starting no later than 20:45 UK timeTrack =Snetterton Variant = F2 (18 laps) and 69x (22 laps) Damage Model = INT Race length = see above Password: see above Replays Available hereF2s Heavies Lights Free Choice Ferrari, BT14 69x Free Choice Lot49, BT20, BT24, Cooper T86B, Eagle AAR101 Red zone will be to the exit of The Bombhole on lap 1

I'll try to make this one as well, should be fun . Just a side note but I noticed in my client replay of the 1969 Lime Rock Park race that I could see the entire field (I think there were 17 cars?). I actually prefer it that way, adds to the realism imho, but thought I saw a couple cars warp more than usual, although I'm positive my own warping was limited. Could it be there is a significantly increased strain on client connections with a full grid, so some clients warp more? Not that the warping was that extreme, just something I'd never seen before, all cars in a client replay .

Once again I suggest to avoid the cars of the lights from the choice of the heavies otherwise these groups have no meaning !

I doubt any Heavy will take an F2 Fez or BT14, or a '69 wingless car though.

Yes Bernie there should be room, just register for the series. There might be an extra space anyway, as for some incomprehensible reason my wife thinks that I should not be "playing with the computer" on Feb 14th!!??? After I asked her "wot's so special about this Friday" I suddenly blacked out and when I came around in Hospital, she said not to worry because the bruising will have faded before Friday.

In my early races with UKGPL I had a bad experience with the slower and lower BW settings 3/132 3/84, when I did a rejoin at Oulton, where I could not see all the cars behind, I was penalized with 2 places that cost me the Nov championship Will my settings make a bad clients connection worse? I don't think so, as these "old" settings were aimed to use with 56kb modems and I presume there is nobody nowadays using this anymore... IMO the spikes of a warp should be reduced by sending every 2nd frame a signal instead of every 3rd

The issue is not necessarily the 'bad' client, it is the information flow at the server end that might be an issue. If information is lost and the client is trying to update every second frame rather than third there will be more 'prediction' on the client. The key is the 132 vs 384 which enables you to see more cars. The amount of data in both cases is tiny so 2/384 2/84 should work fine - but it might not . As with all Internet connections the data flow is not guaranteed. Fun eh?

If information is lost and the client is trying to update every second frame rather than third there will be more 'prediction' on the client... Not the way I understand it. The client is predicting every frame, but uses updated data instead if it's available. Thus, running at a faster (every 2 ticks vs. 3 ticks) rate would yield LESS prediction (because it's only predicting 1/2 the time, instead of 2/3). If information is lost, the client is predicting 100%, no matter what b/w settings are in place. ...The key is the 132 vs 384 which enables you to see more cars. The amount of data in both cases is tiny so 2/384 2/84 should work fine - but it might not . As with all Internet connections the data flow is not guaranteed. Fun eh? But 132 is guaranteed to be worse (or, under the worst possible conditions, equal), so why use it?

Funny you should say that as I just asked HID " what day is it " I am now wearing my Tea ! BTW I have registered but it still says I dont have a licence to drive this series
