A win for Enrique Farina in his Mercedes W196 with Evil Clive claiming second place in his Maserati. David Rainier secured the final podium place in his Mercedes W196SL.

Server replay time: 0h11m16s

Lap 4 – Turn 1 – Axel Cookie, Ricardo Valim da Silva and Phil Thornton
Phil leads Axel on the long straight towards the finish line with and Ricardo close behind. Ricardo has a great tow and decides to try to take the lead on the inside at turn 1. This curve is normally taken flat out but Ricardo is on a tight line and he slows considerably. This catches out Axel and contact is made. All three cars crash out of the race.

Phil did nothing wrong. He lifted and applied the brakes but it was impossible to avoid Ricardo’s car.

Ricardo lifted off completely which slowed the car more than was absolutely necessary. It was possible to take the corner quicker than Ricardo did, even when taking a tight line. However, this cannot be penalised.

Axel didn’t expect Ricardo to slow as much as he did. However, once this was apparent it was impossible for Axel to slow down enough to avoid contact.

The 55 cars allow a very little margin for error. Each overtaking move has to be carefully planned and executed. In any other mod, this incident would probably not have happened. Both Axel and Phil would have had the brakes to take avoiding action.

I don't underdand what you mean FUlvio?
Sometimes a corrupt season.ini file can cause strange errors.

One way to try to correct this is to overwrite the contents of the 67season.ini and 55season.ini files with this:

Code:

Sorry you are having trouble Matt, I'll make my server available this week for testing and we'll get to the bottom of it.

I'll have to join the race server now.

It says I am a 1st reserve in open? Would that stop me joining?

That was a disaster. Apologies to everyone. I just braked too late/was distracted from going wide on the sand on the previous turn.

How can you ruin a race at the start on a straight, all the work of the week ruined in 25 seconds. Thank you! Not to say something to be censored. Another thing the mirrors , use them when you leave the pits! Angry

What I wrote is not for you, I did not look, nor do I intend to, at the repetition.

As it turned out we had a full server so you wouldn't have been able to race Matt.

Being a reserve doesn't prevent you from joining the server. However, we have a gentleman's agreement in that reserves should wait until 15mins into qually (i.e. 9pm) before joining. That allows the regulars (who may be competing for the championship) to join first.

Sorry Cive, all my fault  oops

A comedy of errors.  LOL

I completly lost where I was with regard to what was coming next.  I think that my brain jumped out of gear trying to compute where all of the big silver beasts were.
So I had to do some heavy braking when I realised what was coming next.  I was just thinking that I might have made it when you arrived.

Well that race didn't go to plan. I managed to latch onto the SL pack at the start and so I just waited at the back. No point in leading when the tow is so strong here. First Ricardo went off and then I was gifted the lead when Leo, Clive and JonnyO tangled. I decided to slow down and give my Antipasti team mate Cookie a tow. I thought I was the only SL left and I knew I'd have to power to pull away if I needed to. It was going to plan until until Ricardo's SL appeared in my mirrors. Drat, I'd have a race on my hands after all. It didn't last much longer, a lap later and I was out. Not sure what happened I'll check later but I'm pretty sure I was the innocent party.

It looks like this was a very untidy race. Some moderation to do by the looks of it Roll Eyes

I am seriously questioning the viability of this series.  The last two races, I've been eliminated on only the 2nd lap thanks to some pretty jackass motoring by others.  From a contending position in the points standings, I'm now headed to Nowheresville.  Sad

You have a point Doni. When we didn't have enough entries for 2 servers I was worried that such a vast variation in speed between the fastest Works drivers and the slowest Privateers might cause some problems. However, I'm not convinced this is causing problems. Drivers of equal ability are the ones that appear to be crashing Roll Eyes.

I think it boils down to drivers being sensible. I think we all need to take a deep breath and start to engage brains before pressing the throttle.
