Shame there were not more runners, but I guess most of the final series positions had already been decided.
I had been lying down in a darkened room just beforehand, hoping the painkillers would kick-in to help with my headache; however - apparently what I really needed was to just get out on track! Particularly with the knowledge that the surrounding positions would not change & to just enjoy it as much as possible without pressure (apart from the usual don't take out team-mates out of course...)
I certainly lucked into a better final position here a couple of years back, but this was about as good as I could realistically expect; podiums rare with this bunch!
Anyway, congrats to the chaps ahead; then just romped away with it.
Don't know what happened to John (he's the one that somewhat assisted me with some online testing before the last privs event here); but although it's not entirely sporting to say so - was relieved to see that prib suggested he was probably being kept busy elsewhere.
Likewise, in the early stages at least; Phil certainly had the measure of me. Although I could maybe close a bit during the lap, he was just haulin' ass up the hill & away. I consider I inherited that position due to an issue at T1.
Where as I managed to get my off-tracking complete T1/L1 (maybe that's what I get for taking a couple of psi out front-left before the off; as I noticed I'd been getting that into the red after a few laps in practice...). But overall, maybe it helped with consistency after a few laps had passed.
Crazy game
in the 39th lap on the backstraight my engine popped...
Nice of you to stand-in for Fran...
Cheers all, it's been another good season.
Dave.
