That was fun!
Congrats Pelle, Tristan, and Tim!
Tim's speed is impressive. Jonny looks good too. Pelle and Tristan's performance was good as I'd expect. Two years ago I'd have said I was faster than Jonny but I wouldn't say that now. He qualified faster than I've ever gone with the BRM.
That was a good start for the first several cars. Somehow I had a little gap over Axel which allowed me to leave a little space between me and Fulvio after T1.
That was some nice driving Fulvio. You never made a big enough mistake for me to pass, although I did manage to lead you through one turn. The only other chance I got meant that I would have had to outbrake you at the end of the long straight. I wasn't sure I could do it, so I didn't try. Jonny gave me one opportunity too but I didn't think I could complete that pass either.
Positions 4-8 were contested through most of the race. I tailed Fulvio most of the race. Jonny fell back to us at one point. Running between Fulvio and Axel was hard work. I overheated my tires while between them, falling behind Axel at one point. Most of the race I was worried that if I wasn't careful Eduardo might pass me too. Every tenth of a second was important to stay in front of Eduardo's Lotus and keep up with Fulvio.
That was the first week I've been able to drive consistently in months. My arm still aches and it's weak, but it's useable now.
I didn't really want to get into a race at Hockenheim. I just wanted to finish. I felt good enough this time that I wanted more than just a finish. It was fun trying to keep up with Fulvio.
I did as well as I could have hoped. I relaxed late in qualifying because my arm started aching but it had no effect on my starting position. I was only off my fastest lap by 0.5 seconds. My apologies Pepe for bumping you in qualifying. I misjudged what both of us were doing. I hope it didn't hurt your qualifying.
Thanks guys. Take care of yourselves.
