Drat! You snooze, you lose.

Have fun gents. Smiley

Might be worth turning up - Geoff often snoozes through....

Funny you should say that Paul. Loaded the new carset to try it, and although it only showed the standard colors on our server it appears to be very hi-res....and the heavy load killed my frames to slideshow level. So best I don't play with the limits imposed by my laptop. Room for one more.......

Interesting - I have been trying to play on my super dooper multimedia laptop and it dies after a few laps with frame rates going down to 7 or so. My 'normal' PC is fine but the Laptop is unplayable - suspect it is something to do with the CPU stepping down into energy saving mode or something because changing the graphics options so that the race looks like 'Space Invaders'

Now I might be wrong Paul, because this is a computer related issue!!  Roll Eyes Which means that I am probably talking complete*****

But, I seem to recall reading something about running GPL on laptops and things going wrong like you have described.

If I remember correctly there is something about GPL that the OS on many laptops does not recognise as a running application, therefore it goes into sleep mode after "x" minutes.

The solution may have been to disable the screen saver and the timer that initiates it or to set up a small programme running in the background to con the OS into thinking that the laptop is still being used. A little digging might get some answers around the community?

This happened in the BREASTS race on Wednesday - I was in a very creditable last place and suddenly I couldn't drive...

...and then the frame rates dropped off...  Grin

Thanks Clive. I'll check it out. It would be nice if I could get it sorted. Does't seem to be an issue offline though.

Stuttering problems

If you have a Dual Core CPU, get the Dual-Core patch from Microsoft HERE. Microsoft says: "Without these updates, computers that are equipped with these power management-capable, mobile, dual-core processors may experience decreased performance or unexpected behavior."

Sometimes stutters can be sound device related. See the sound section below for advice.

Works like IGOR except you load up VROC instead. The chatrooms are the same.

If VROC is a real problem for some drivers they should be able to use IGOR for the chat room and join via IP address in GPL.
