UKGPL Season 21
Chief Moderator: Vlad Vosblod

Season 21 will commence on 26 April 2011. We will be running eight divisions and now utilise our extra Friday night slot. There will a mixture of the mods and the original cars so there should be something for everyone. The new “GT Challenge”, utilising this new mod with a team ethos, will now occupy Sunday nights alternating with the “Works” and “Privateers" divisions for the 1967 cars. The 65 and 66 cars will share alternate Tuesday night slots; the “Pro’s”, replacing Amateurs, and “Novices” running one week and the “Historic Trophy” the other. Fear not the “Spec Race Challenge” is still with us, now running on alternate Fridays with the exciting new “Porsche Cup Challenge” using existing team structures as a base.

The rules for Season 21 have been changed slightly so please be aware of them before you register and race. One change is that ALL divisions will now operate FULL moderation of lap one. Make yourself familiar with the rules before the season starts, paying particular attention to those that have changed such as the SHIFT-R/Stop-n-Go rules and the corner cutting rules. https://www.ukgpl.com/index.php/rules/intro

As ever, drivers are being asked to read the rules, dates and track selection for each division and enter the divisions they prefer. The objective here is to ensure the drivers are happy with the rules, dates and track selection of their chosen division(s) before committing to the season. The moderators reserve the right to adjust the driver allocation as necessary but this is unlikely for all but the Pro/Novices and Works/Privateers divisions. As regards the Pit Stop patch this is not allowed, please refer to the rules regarding modifications to GPL namely Modification of the GPL executable and data files is only permitted if the modification does not give a performance advantage to the driver compared to drivers using a copy of GPL without the modification

The “Graduates Cup” was very successful last season with enough entrants to run 2 separate divisions. Subject to enough entrants there will be a “Works” division for the faster drivers and a “Privateers” division for the normally aspirated. This division will again use the original 1967 cars with chassis allocation through a system of tokens which remains unaltered. Drivers of all abilities are welcome but the slower drivers will not be afforded a chassis advantage. To encourage take up in the slower Privateers division we will continue to run this on Intermediate damage with allowance for ONE (fault or not) shift/R reset, with Works remaining on PRO damage.

Newcomers to GPL will generally enter the Novices Trophy that utilizes the 65 cars. Here they will be able to get up to speed with racing on-line without the demands of the challenging 1967 cars.  Once they are comfortable on-line, they may decide to move on to the higher divisions with the faster cars. Faster newcomers and experienced drivers who like the 65 cars, are best suited to the Pro Trophy (to be run on the same night as the Novices Trophy). This year, in Pro, you need to complete 50% of the race to score points.

Drivers of all abilities who enjoy the 66mod can enter the Historic Trophy division. The top drivers in the championship will be restricted to the slower chassis, see the thread for changes to this. This season drivers will be seeded and allocated a chassis group for the first race, this should prevent the first round being a virtual spec race. The races will be run under PRO damage and you now need to complete 50% of the race to score points.

Drivers will not be restricted to entering a single division. Drivers can enter as many divisions as they like but they cannot enter both the Novices and Pro or the Privateers and Works Trophies.
