Season 29 Works Trophy - Round 09 - MonzaThe penultimate round of this season will be held at the legendary and well known Monza circuit. The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is a race track located near the city of Monza, north of Milan, in Italy. The circuit's biggest event is the Formula One Italian Grand Prix. With the exception of 1980, the race has been hosted there since the series's inception. Pelle Buchner and Robert Fleurke are the main contenders for this season's Works Trophy, with Peter Antonsen still having an outside chance. Race List = iGOR Server = UKGPL_9 IP = see iGOR Race date = Sunday 21-02-2016 Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT) Track = Papyrus Original Race length = 34 Laps (50 minutes) Variant = 1967 60fps patch used = 60fpsV2newmod Damage Model = Pro Qualifying time = 30-45 minutes Replays Available hereDriver lists and token rules can be found on the championship standings pageThe full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available. Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join. If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left. This Season we don't have a Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report. The chassis token system is explained on the Works standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings. Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line. Password: see above

I clicked the button to enter the car. The screen went black, then the cursor appeared, and then to the desktop. That sucked.

I wasn't expecting to make this one, so to find I had a minute to spare and quickly joining the grid in stand-by mode was a result . However, the setup I used was way too conservative and found it made my Eagle understeer like the titanic. Great fun racing with everyone though, until I binned it just before half race distance. Just another reminder that there's no substitute for practice

Grats RF on win and the season championship, and if my math is right, grats Pelle and Gis who locked the runner-up spots.
In qual I was well off my pb, but car was handling predictably, and matching my pb would have only been worth two spots in this fast crowd anyway. So, on to the "how not to start a race at Monza" bit:
Felt like a good start, but Doni shifting right spooked me a bit (not implying any wrongdoing there, I'da done the same), so I lifted just the tiniest which put me quarter spin, facing the pitwall while watching rest of grid go by in mirrors. :pullinghair:
But with patience, consistency, and a bit of luck not getting involved in others', all the way up to P6. Clive managed to claw his way into my draft, making me push a little harder, and guess the rears got melty. Sorry for clumsy in the Lesmos lap 26, glad we escaped w/ no damage.
Chasing him down after that, pushed the exit of Para just a bit too hot 5 laps to go, clipped the rail, spun into outside = two wheels gone bah.

The server replay cap isn't available at this writing but I have had a cursory look at my save.
Profuse and sincere apologies to Dean for putting a scare into you off the grid. I realized the peril of my maneuver and checked it but too late for you to realize. My bad. Apologies again...

Had practised a lot in the Lotus, and put quite some pressure on myself for this race. Also it's the birthday of my late dad, which made it a bit special. I might have clinched the championship playing it safe but really wanted to win today! When Iestyn announced he'd attend the race it made me extra nervous Struggled in quali to get in a sub27 lap, but managed to get in a good lap and it was also a PR! After that only tested my racesetup for a few laps. Also a great sub27 for Attilio, who sadly blew up after the start...not the luck you deserve mate, hope you will race again next season with better luck on your side After the start already had a half a second gap, for a while Iestyn got closer, but was able to manage a safe gap that grew to 3s at the end. Basically we had the same pace, but the start gave me the victory. Also it has to be noted Iestyn ran without practise. Still very happy with the win today, and finally winning the Works Trophy after being 3rd and twice bridesmaid Great race Iestyn, and well done Pelle. You were a great rival this season and at some tracks unbeatable Thanks all for racing, looked like a good race overall! Commiserations to the retirements, especially Attilio, and Greg

Just another reminder that there's no substitute for practice That sums up my race too. I got 30 mins practice in before quali & was never really happy with my setup but I managed to get it better during quali. Was too cautious in the opening laps & finally got it wrong & put it in the wall at Curva Grande which started the end of my race. Grats Robert on the title & all finishers

Guess what! Piston! OK I have a really heavy right foot, but it was towards the end of the race, where one just can't expect such problems to occur... Up till that point it was a good solid race, thought a bit slower than I hoped. But I even had company, so it was definitely fun. Grats Robert on your victory and championship!

Big Grats RF...& with Championship ...great speed here at Monza & throughout the season, to win every other race Of course I would have liked to win, but I'm proud of my comeback that I am so far ahead. Practice: Must admit, trained too little up to this race...setup was safe, but too slowly. Qual: 3rd...oops, ID strike me down to 4rd in the last sec Race: Oops Artiglietti, it was a short pleasure. Tried to press ID on the first lap, but on the other hand...why not let ID put pressure on RF...I knew anyway I was too slow against RF in Lotus. Drove my own race & could only hope a accident/engine/fuel would get me further up...but RF & ID makes rarely errors. Grats ID...good to see you back Another mistake & because too little practice. After the race, we ran a lap more...made burnout & I still had fuel for 5 laps more, my car was too heavy throughout the race Too bad for them, where it went wrong...before Green Thank you all for a fun day at Monza Next: Bathurst...this is exciting, the second place go to TEAM-GTLDK...& win the Team Championship

Grats Rob with the win and the championship!! clearly well deserved clinching it with a win and still a race to go! Not much to say about my race, I guess now I know how it has felt for Alonso in his McHonda last year :-P But clearly the Ferrari can go faster, didn't get my setup right, so alot of understeer which really hurt me through T1.. Had some fun small duels with some people coming by after going off, but could make no real impression on anybody.. Good to see Iestyn back on track with us ! :-)

Congratulations to Rob on the championship - I didn't realise you had not won before. Great to see that UKGPL has strong support after so many years with a full grid. I guess you never get bored with places like Monza.

First and foremost sorry to Clive for missing my braking point and side swiping you into Lesmo 1. I was following Sam and the rest of you and somehow misjudged it, possibly the other cars obscuring the light patch on the racing line. No excuse though and I was pleased to see you could continue. Hope your car wasn't too banana shaped.
A few laps later I lost it on the brakes into the same corner and ripped a wheel off.
Some cracking times up front, can't possibly compete! WD Rob for the title.
I did a praccy race the night before and some offline before the server came up. Given I'm useless at setting-up the car I tried a Wilke setup, which was rather nice, if a bit lively on the back end. Unsure of how much to over inflate the tyres I blindly increased all 4 by 1 psi (taking them to 21 & 22 psi) and immediately went quicker. Was gonna try some more but didn't have time. What were you guys running?
Cheers,
Bob
