Grats to Axel on the win and commiserations to those who suffered technical problems.
The Honda is probably not the perfect car for this circuit ( for me the BT11 is definitely faster ) but I do find that the Waza is fun to drive
. I was almost caught out by Mike's slow start and had to jink sideways to get past before T1. Then I followed Andreas for a couple of laps feeling that I could go a little quicker if only he was not in the way. Meanwhile, Tris and Axel were escaping into the distance and I knew that my Honda would need to hook up with their slipstream if I was going to match their pace.
Around lap 3, a good run down onto the long straight gave me the slingshot past Andreas and I was able to slowly pull clear, but Axel was just too far ahead to gain any tow and both he and Tris eased away, leaving me on my own for the rest of the race.
Then Tris had his freeze and I was promoted to 2nd place behind Axel, with the gap back to Andreas and Mike slowly growing with each lap. My only concern was the reliability of the Honda engine, so for the last 5 laps I reduced the revs and cruised home...…….only to discover that I had been carrying 50 litres of spare fuel!! lol
