Moderator's Report

Three different winners in three races as Ross Neilson makes it to the top step of the podium this time. Hendy Nichols followed his Novices win with a good second place whilst Geoff Heard bagged third.

After three rounds it's close at the top in both the drivers' and teams' points chase as we head into the Christmas break.

Server replay time: 0h00m50s

Martin brakes too late at T1 and hits the back of Billy. This incident could have been classed as blatant and attracted an extra place penalty however Billy did brake earlier than most other drivers did on the first lap at T1. Nevertheless Martin should have been more cautious.

  • maddog (Martin Hunt)penalty — Simple Rear End Shunt: Penalty 1 place (plus 1 for first lap) — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 0h00m55s

Hendy makes a good start from third on the grid and closes in on second placed Fabio as they approach the right-handed T1. Hendy has the inside line whilst Fabio holds the outside. Fabio is ahead as they turn in and has a quicker line, so maintains second place whilst giving Hendy room. As they approach the middle of the corner Fabio slows and Hendy begins to draw alongside. Both drivers then try to claim claim the racing line for the late apex and contact is made, sending Fabio into the gravel trap whilst Hendy continues unhindered.

Server replay time: 0h09m59s

Dave Rainier brakes later than usual at T3 and runs into the left-hand side of Fran. Dave had not achieved any overlap at the point of turn in. It's likely he would have made the corner though, so this is class as "Very Ambitious" rather than "Impossibly Ambitious". The lack of any overlap means it can't be classed as anything less.

Server replay time: 0h12m45s

Geoff spins behind Phil as they slow for yellow flags at T7. Fran arrives shortly afterwards and tries to go around Geoff but contact is made.

Server replay time: 0h17m04s

Fran tries to pass Bernie on the inside of T3 but is going too quickly and cannot maintain his line, hitting the left-hand side of Bernie's car. Although Bernie briefly went onto the grass in the braking zone he maintained the outside line, giving Fran room for the pass.

Fran had less than 50% overlap, but had his brakes locked so was not in full control. Bernie was not in complete control either having a quick trip on and off the grass.

Server replay time: 0h40m33s

Fran blows his engine on the main straight and comes to a halt on the right-hand side of the track, off the racing line just before T7. Hendy and Fabio are a few seconds back, Hendy on the right because he has allowed Fabio to pass on the left. Unfortunately this has left Hendy heading straight for Fran and by the time he sees Fran it is too late and a heavy collision occurs.

Although Fran made an effort to get off the racing line, it would have been better (and just as simple) to move off track entirely by going left onto the grass. Nevertheless the penalty has been reduced from two places to one.

Made big gains due to the lap 1 melee , found myself in P5 ? behind Martin and Phil , was settling down for a decent battle with my old sparring partner when a certain BRM driver (you know who youare ) did a no hope outbraking move , T boned me and I crashed and burned , had to wait for ages to S/R then the Pit in  put me right out  it , decided to carry on regardless and got a decent though hard earned finish after a couple of further incedents .

Never been to Mt tremblant myself so dont know what the weather will be like , praying for rain  Grin

What a poxy track in the back-end of nowhere Smiley
Who's great idea was it to park those 'planes there  - right on the normal line round that corner?!
Anyway, enough of that...

This is one of the many mystery tracks for me.  Got the track recently, but really did not do much in the way of homework. There again, I don't think it would have made any difference to be honest.

I was glad in the familar surroundings at the back of the grid.  It really does give a good view of what's going on ahead;   also unlikely that breaking too early at the first corner will cause all sorts of trouble.  I recommend it to all of you!

The plan was to try & keep in on the black stuff as much as possible.  It's come to my attention that cruising round/staying ontrack may actually work put quicker than an off at every corner/trashing the tub.  Of course, I'm obviously not an authority in any way.

It's also true to say that this really did appear to be a race of attrition/connection gremlins. So, as a result I lucked into 5th - which I feel is a synthetic result.  But, I'll take it all the same!

Hopefully there was enough room left for all during the numerous re-joins (I never stated it all went to plan...).    I try to be a little too cautious if possible.

Anyway, cheers for the evening entertainment.  My back/wrist is certainly grateful of the shortened race distance.

I see the next round is another mystery track.  Interesting days indeed!

Cheers,
Dave.

Ouch, Skymole, bad luck Sad

Congrats, Ross. Not going to complain about the podium finish, but I did better in practice. Finally got a 137 the night before. I was expecting to see some more 137s in qualy. Practice paid off this time, for Mosport I only had one session before the race I think, here I had 5 days or so. At first it was like driving on ice but once I learn the track I come to like it. Fortunately I only had 1 reset on the last lap...vid coming soon Smiley

LOL. I wondered if this was the worst qualifying result ever. Phil's post about Season 19 took me to the results for the last time out and I am happy to say the my team mate Nigel was even worse than I was! Thanks Nige Wink

I couldn't believe it when I ran out of fuel bt it dawned on me afterwards that I had not set the race setup to anything but default which only has fuel for 14 laps.... thought it was a bit odd.

Frustrating race as I could keep up with Dave C, Bernie and Billy when I concentrated but I KEPT making silly mistakes and blew an engine. Took me three laps to find the Pit entrance.I think I broke the rules there Ross so whatever action is deemed necessary. I think I also gave Phil a little tap when I was being brave early on. Hope that didn't contribute to your early demise Phil and apologies. Don't think I took Blito out (although I was worried when I saw it was a 'couldn't keep the car straight' problem!) but I DEFINITELY took Martin out and then on the rejoin a few drivers had to avoid me but I couldn't see or hear them as my earphones had fallen off!

I'll dob myself in later on but I don't think I did much wrong... as Geoff didn't when he took me out - he didn't even hit me hard enough so thatI could reset and finish the race Sad

Last night I thought, right that is rubbish. No more grads for me. This morning, I am looking forward to Round 4... What a masochist!

I suspect I contributed several clips, to the Seasons end Highlights reel, at Anderstorp. Shocked

It was with a car I found a pleasure to drive, that my start became blighted, at the 1st corner.  The traffic slowed excessively, and I threw a shovel under Billy's rear wheels - not a pretty sight, and no excuse possible!  Next up, a good skirmish with Sky, which ended when some grass got in the way. This meant recovering through the field, and soon up to 4th. Grin

Heading down the main straight at full speed, a jealous pursuer decided he'd prefer my place, and attempted to forceably exchange drivers, before the braking zone.  This inevitably ended badly, as the car contained only enough room for one driver at a time.

Having now festooned the track with much debris, I was surprised to re-recover to a fighting 4th!  But fate remained a force to reckon with, assisted by one frantically spinning Brabham, which brought my Coop. to it's final resting place, with a dead engine.  It gave it's all in the name of progress. :'(

Totally and utterly incredulous at picking up the Bronze in Sweden. This would have to rate as one of my worst 67 performances on record. Too many spins, apologies to Fabio for clipping him whilst I was quietly spinning in T1, apologies to Dave for giving you a clout as you half spun in front of me.....I could see it happening and thought I'd tightened my line sufficiently to avoid you. however  that assumption was incorrect. And apologies to Paul for knocking you off in the last corner. You did nothing wrong there Paul, giving me plenty of room.....but the bloody car simply would not stop sliding, until it contacted you.   Roll Eyes   Had some great racing with Phil, Dave, Fabio and Fran.....who was pedalling the BRM at an impressive rate. Sorry to see Phil expired early......his effort deserved better.
But Ross was without a doubt the class act this time out. Uncatchable....blown engine and all. Great drive by Hendy to pick up the Silver silverware as well. Seems I'd better get a LOT of practice for Canada, lest I perform worse than Anderstorp.

UPDATE: Thanks for the reminder Fran, apologies to you for spinning in front of you and leaving you no option but to tag me. It was sloppy driving, getting in too close under Phil's gearbox
then not being able to open the throttle to keep the package all pointing in the right direction. Sorry it sent you off.

First of all, WD to Ross, a true alien at Anderstorp!!

I didn't race with the 67s here since 2008 and I was really surprised about my speed yesterday.

A great last qualify lap and I set the pole position if were only humans to race...

Unfortunately I spun after a contact with Hendy's BRM at first turn so I had to chase the whole grid.

I had big issues to pass Phil's BRM and Geoff's Brabby, so I made a lot of mistakes.

When chasing Dave's Cooper I lost the control of my fezza on the grass so I hit him on the back (It was me, not Francesco...)

Probably a lost second place.

Anyway, great track choice!

See you all next year in Canada

First, sorry to Francesco for confusion with Fabio (but I have to say it's not so evident with such nickname  "il luppo mannaro" Smiley  by the way what means "mannaro" ?  luppo is wolf, I presume )

No problem, Fabio, for this accident ! It's racing !
but it's a pity we lost together so many times because we are teammates Wink  at this moment, I was pushing hard to keep the contact with Geoff.

"the werewolf" is the right English translation for "il lupo mannaro"
