Maybe I will be seeing some of you in the Ints? Nope I should have said that I hope you have enjoyed the season. It has been a pleasure to race with you all and you can start preparing for Monaco, Monza, Silverstone, Spa, Reims, Rouen, East London, Clermont-Ferrand and two others tba. Send me any feedback, good or bad, either on the forums or by PM. Oh for gods sake - anyone handicapped with a BT7 is gonna get left for dead on most of those tracks - only at Monaco and Clermont will the group 5 boys stand a chance of finishing on the lead lap!

Those tracks are not set in stone yet and we haven't told you what the handicap is yet and you ought to be in the Inters anyway... The other two or three tracks will be BT7 friendly but the Papy tracks are self selecting on a rotation basis, although one of Monza, Silverstone and Spa will probably go as they are all power tracks, East London and Clermont are part of the 65 standard and I like Reims In any case, I wouldn't underestimate the BT7 in your hands at ANY track... If it was down to my personal preference it would be Round 1, Reims, Round 2, Reims, Round 3...

Thanks for your vote of confidence but I would like to point out that I was only just on the pace at all the events this season! At no point was I the man to beat and I scored my 3 wins by canny racecraft rather than pure speed! I would be a looooong way down the running order in inters.....

To paraphrase Rudyard Kipling's famous poem "If". "If you can keep your Honda whilst all around you are losing their's then you'll be a" ...... championship runner up my son. Well done Hendy the best man won needing only 8 races & a Cooper & to Roguk once again very consistant in a Cooper. Grats too to Cookie in the inters & Al Heller Pro champ. I can remember when Al H won novices - thats how long I've been trying. Am I staying in Novices - don't think so. I've been trying since season 16 race 8 & this is my best finish yet. Need a new wheel though. Its been a good season for me with 8 poles, I don't count Mexico as Hendy was faster before the system crashed. Inability to keep concentration or just the jitters has been my downfall far too often & its doubtfull if that will change. Got my first win as well & so did HappyAl who has been trying even longer than me . You don't lose or win the championship at the last race you do it over the whole season & I've had three 7th places. Not good enough. Well Done Jason Hendy & Giovani at Zandfoort. Last night's race was typical of my season. One mistake, others pass, I get rattled & make more mistakes. Incidentally to pass on the outside of turn one its worth pointing out you need more than driving skill. You need the co-operation of the bod on the inside not to run you out onto the grass . Thanks everyone who makes UKGPL function. Norm H

I passed Norm around the OUTSIDE of Tarzan!!!!
Nice work Jason, I recall Mario Andretti trying that on James Hunt and getting run off the road. Hunt's explanation was "We don't pass on the outside in Grand Prix racing". Except it was Hunt who ran around the outside of Andretti

I didn't fair well here, qualifying 3rd I started ok and was 2nd after a few laps and with a full tank my car seemed easier to drive than al's in front and I was sure I could find an opportunity somewhere but running wide at turn 1 let almost the entire field through. I pushed to close the gap which was reducing but 2 engine failures took their toll- maybe my gearing needs looking at :-/. Congratulations to hendy and the others on the podium. It's been a great season and I'm looking forward to the next one.

I never saw that race , only read the report in "aughtosport" and remembered the incident, yet somehow was stuck in my braincells the memory that Hunt had done one on Andretti bit vague on this tbh so long ago As you can tell I wouldn't be much cop on mastermind

It's been an interesting experience for me. I realize now that yes a mod may be easier than another but at the end, the difference between drivers remain the same. It may even increase actually because good drivers do not have problems switching from one mod to another when I need time to adjust when I switch. Badblood has been my reference in that championship . I was disqualified at the very first race and I deserved it 100% but, ironically, the points I lost there allowed Paul to beat me at the finish.
It's been a pleasure being on the same grids as you guys. Keep going .
Pierre
