after short practise I could do 1-37-xx with an Eagle ; so I better stay away from tonights race . would just been a brakemarker then a driver moving his car woooow these sound of 67 Eagle is breathtaking , real big fun . endless power , even in 5th gear I could hot spin the rear tyres

There's something fishy about that chap's WR times Clive... the 2nd best/nearest times are 8-10 seconds slower for every chassis. So I imagine a piffling 1:30 would be perfectly acceptable !:30??!!! that is still in fantasy land for me at the moment. Nicky's time of 1:37 sounds more realistic!! lol

As far as Urban's times, those have to be 69 Mod times that somehow found their way into the 67 slots. He is blindingly fast I can attest. I've been lapped by him enough to know, though that's not saying much now that I think about it. I tried a few laps and my best so far was a 1:36.xx in the Brabham. Most laps ended in tears before long. The Ferrari felt more skittish and the Honda felt like a huge sedan on bald tires. I was going to give this race a go but I'm paranoid about my car control. 67's around Montjuic are a beast! You may not be as far off as you think Nicky Peace RJ

My local lap record is 1:23 which is an AI time but I am only twenty seconds off that now...

Apparently I have the track & not that I remember ever being there, managed to (presumably bounce) round just under 1:43.
As a result, I'll turn up to bolster the numbers as it's a fun/test run. Hopefully I'll make it to at least lap3 before the field rushes up from behind...
Cheers, Dave.

Got pole in the Coop Too much wheelspin off the start dropped me to 3rd Got rearended at T1 Apologies to all those that got blocked behind my sideways car - I wasn't sure whether to stay still or move as we all seemed to be squashed together like sardines. After the T1 incident my race rhythm was rather shot. Still, was quite enjoying racing in midfield but then I managed to clout Ronnie - very sorry Ronnie - hope you were able to continue. Spun out shortly after & lost a wheel & decided it wasn't my night.

Start was interesting, just managed to avoid a stationary Tim even though the flag dropped several days ago! Some might disagree but I really like the challenge of this track. No problems Al with the contact, an occupational hazard at a track like this. Opted out with around seven laps to go with a blown engine. Great track and no problems with connection, fps, etc. Hope we use it.

REALLY enjoyed that Didn't manage to get any practice in prior to joining the lobby so was very happy with 4th on the grid - not so happy that missed the flag while adjusting my wonky chair Sorry to Ronnie and anyone else who got affected From there on it was a challenge to adjust to some last minute setup changes while trying to make up lost ground, this eventually resulted in my rear ending Bernie on one of the hairpins early in the lap - sorry Bernie although I don't think it affected you much based on how far up the road you were when I eventually caught back up After sucessfully passing Bernie I settled in and managed to start eating away at the leaders while occaisionally entering the first hairpin backwards when carrying too much speed over the brow... Eventually Clive helped me past by parking in some armco putting me upto 3rd, Robert J then lost it and performed a lovelly piruoette into the first hairpin (8 out of 10, entry could have been smoother ) handing me second so I could concentrate on pulling in Sam who was some 16 seconds ahead acording to my pitboard. I didn't have quite enough speed to catch him by the end though so had to settle for mearly being able to see him as we finished. Had there been just 1 or 2 laps more it could have got interesting though Well done to everyone who made it, connection was rock solild here, very little warp considering the type of circuit too

Lummy, the trip from the back was not really filled with as much fun as I was expecting!
The entire drive seemed laggy somehow; even when running at 35-36 FPS. It seemed much lower. Did notice it was about 30FPS a couple of times round that 1st right-hander with the handy layby/run off/parking area. Maybe I have the hi-res version installed or something; but normally do not have any issues at all with lag.
The pile-up after the start just had cars warping in/out; in that log-jam, was edging forward into clear spaces & bam! - cars appearing in there already.
There was defo something wrong with my tyres. I reckon they were half-filled with butter, with the rest smeared on the outside! There again, with a random setup selected - maybe it was sand from the Zandy dunes...
Still, not all bad - at least I out-qualified the UKGPL server... Got a PB during the 'race' so not all bad there either. Kinda enjoyable once I had an idea which way the next way the next corner was likely to go.
ok, maybe not the most community-aware way to run a personal test session; but I clearly need all the time here as I can get.
Plenty of opportunities to practice being lapped - I think there was an improvement there at least.
Cheers for the run. To the guys which this applies to - enjoy the rest of the long weekend!
Dave.

I dont see whats the fuss all about... the track isnt particulary great looking or fun to drive, more like below average... Clermont, st. Jovite or Pau are both more challenging and more beautiful...and they work right for a change... Installed the light version and tried turning off every tickbox in gpl, but still had 22 fps at places (and it felt like 15). So I guess the reason is not the textures, but some objects placed on wrong places or something... even on monaco rocks i get minimum 30fps, and it feels driveable unlike montjuic... Driving on it is frankly a torture, no matter what car or mod... And about racing...well, that t1 pileup says all about it imo - we were stuck for about half a minute...

Grats Sam and Tim I am the responsible party for the 1st lap disaster. Braking and entering the hairpin I felt under control and thought I was leaving plenty of room. I thought wrong. As I turned in it was almost as if the Cooper backed up into me but that was just a visual trick on the eyes. Terribly sorry Al. I pride myself on not biffing folks up the backside so this is hard for me to swallow. Not the way I wanted to be introduced to the UKGPL. Frame rate wasn't that good but driveable. On a couple of occasions dropped extremely low for a second or two. Peace RJ

really enjoyed the race , the connection was good and fr was a solid 36 even after the start when all cars were bunched ( though I didnt pay much attention to the fr after that for some reason ) enjoyed some close racing along the way to being lapped , the usual problem being a new track was finding the braking distances and best line through the many bends ( are there any straights here ) its the sort of track that lets you grow in confidence then bites you back for trying to be too smug Got to say that I loved it for another reason as I was there in person to see the last F1 race to be held at Mont Juich track after the safety brigade decided it was to dangerous for the modern breed of racers . great shame because spectator wise the close up sight of grand prix cars was fantastic Quite a relief to find the track wasn't the disco fest that some had predicted looking forward to racing here again , I think this track was built for for the 65's or F2 mod

Peace RJ No problems Robert - Clive & Sam had both run pretty deep into T1 & looked like they might touch, so I was pulling up a little sharply in order to try & take the inside line. It was only the lightest of touches from your car but of course GPL's collision rendering did the rest... Anyway I can hardly start pontificating as I managed to plough into the back of Ronnie later on Still, I guess it's better that all this happens in the fun races.
