Season 23 - GT Team ChallengeNow that we have some better data on the cars, drivers and laptimes we intend to try some pitstop handicapping in season 23. There will be no tokens, but we keep the TEAMS.
So this will be done in the same way as the PORSCHE CUP.
All drivers have been rated according to ability as either: Pro; Amateur or Novice. New drivers will be assigned a group by the Moderator.
A team consists of 3 drivers with a maximum of 6 drivers points.
Pro driver -> 3 points
Amateurs -> 2 points
Novices -> 1 point
Hopefully most teams will have 3 drivers
Drivers
d) Drivers will be valued relative to their points score at the end of last season and their experience ( and speed ).
e) Any drivers who register for the new season, but who did not compete last season, will be assessed and assigned a rating by the moderator.
Cars
f) Once the teams have been assembled should post their names on the registration page.
g) Teams have a FREE choice of car for every race but team members must NOT drive the same cars in the same race.
Points
h) Points will be awarded as last season, so getting all 3 drivers to the finish will increase the team score.
j) At the end of the 10 race championship any TEAM which has not complied with rule "g" will have its BEST TEAM points result of the season cancelled.
k) Each driver will drop his worst 2 results, in line with the other championships, this gets over the problem of missed races and 2 man teams looking for a sub at the last minute.
Racing
There will be rolling starts for all races.
The events will be run on Intermediate damage and allow ONE Shift-R with a compulsory Stop and Go pit stop regardless of fault.
Any driver who fails to take a Stop and Go within 1 lap after a Shift-R, will be disqualified from the results.
SnG's must be be taken as a seperate stop and not combined with your timed pitstop.
For this division the full moderation will include both the warm up lap and the red zone lap one proper.
PITSTOPS
The times for pitstops will be posted well before each race and will of course be different for each track.
Failure to make a pitstop will result in DQ for that race.
If a pitstop is made but the replay shows that the car was not stationary for long enough. If a car moves away from the pits before it has completed the correct length of stop the error will be multiplied by 3.
For example.. if car moves out of the pits 5 seconds early, that mistake will be x 3=15 secs and that time will be added to your total race time by the moderator and your final position might be altered.

We have had to switch drivers around between teams in order to accommodate as many members as possible. If there are any big objections to this line up we can try to juggle drivers around, but bear in mind that the first race is in 4 days time and teams will need to decide on car choice so that drivers can get some practice for racing and pitstops!!!!!
