Moderator's Report

The first race of the 3rd PSC season in S23 had some driver mistakes, but only one reported incident and one in the red zone...

The Porsches make close racing possible, but there are limits!
The collision box is bigger than the car!

Allways remember: we are racing in PRO long distance mode!

Server replay time: 0h02m35s

Even team mates should be more careful in the red zone!

Server replay time: 0h16m09s

Nicky brakes earlier into the International Horseshoe and Marco misjudges his breakpoint.

Thanks to Mrs Fujikawa for giving me permission to drive for Team Makikas.  Grin

Grats to Axel and Sergio for keeping out of trouble and taking the top 2 places.
I thought that the start instructions were clear enough, but maybe it was because I did not see the alternative interpretation that some did? smartass

Yes , there were some incidents during the race some of which, I think, were to be expected when we all run the same car?

Which is why, when I did eventually slipstream past you H, I stayed on my side of the track waiting until I could see you clearly in my ( very poor) mirror just to be sure that there was no contact. I was thinking that we could have towed each other away and was fully intending to play that game if we could do it safely. By the time I could see you I was into the braking zone . I think I put a wheel on the inner grass and lost some directional stability under braking which fired me off.
After that incident I was fighting to get back towards the front and confess that I was guilty of over driving for a few laps and lost ground until I got the red mist under control.  I had a great battle with Mr Mercaldo for many laps until he went off and slowly I picked up places as others went off and found myself in 3rd spot. But it soon became apparent that the 2 leaders would not be caught unless they had a problem, so for the last 5 laps I watched the gap back to 4th and paced myself to the line and a satisfying 3rd spot.

Yeah, the Porsche is a very solid car! Hristo did a Lap 28: 1m53.152s with his "damaged" car Grin

I had a very save setup with a good top speed, so I could regain the lost places of the first laps and close the gap to the leading trio.
As all drivers did their mistakes I finaly was in the lead with Sergio in my tow. Yes the teamwork helped us to increase the gap Wink
When Sergio decided to take the lead I had to lift the whole straight and after a little wobble I regained the lead and kept it to the finish.

Very confusing was the Flagman! What was the last lap there was none! So I decided to do another lap behind Paul and then I saw him...

 Smiley
First of all big hand on Axel for his great win !! as well to Cloud and Clive .

My race wasn’t exiting , I was extreme slow couldn’t even get close to my PB I did offline ( 1-55-90 , which still is slow . lol ) . pure acceleration , top speed wasn’t to bad , but still think maybe my tyre pressure wasn’t high enough , dunno .
Only thrilling moment was L8 16:09 when I got kicked out . Pure luck my car stranded back on its wheels and I could kept on racing .

Server connection was fine , apart from jumping cars in the very beginning .

As to the complains on `rolling start rules havnt been clear enough ` .
To me Rolling ZONE = from the start to the exit of the International Horseshoe
doesn’t leave any question left .
Its point out the lap and the turn . And no question : chatroom isn’t the place to get information of rules being up for the race .

Well , I really enjoyed the race and most of all , I am lucky that I didn’t had a freeze !
Guess I sorted out my former probs : Windows Defender was running  , so I stopped it .
Knock on wood ; really hope that was the reason for all my freezes , I did had on my new Win7 64bit stuff .

Blito , why not staying constant at Pulse Racing for this PSC season ? would be great to have you on board .

That's a very kind offer and I would be pleased to drive for you as an occasional guest driver this year. I am however only doing a handful of races so will not register as FT for your team but as I said I will be around for a few guest appearances. Smiley

I agree with NickyIckx  Grin

Congratulation Axel for this great win !! as well to Cloud and Clive .

My thrilling moment was getting freezed a few minutes before the race start!

Rolling start was great!
I have been reading to much and I also thought that there was no overtaking the 1e lap.
Sorry about that.

I Also enjoyed the race and am happy with my new PB Smiley

Thank for racing Cu at Cerne's Woods

Rolling ZONE    =    from the start to the exit of the International Horseshoe

How can this be misinterpreted?
I have done some races here and there was allways trouble in T1, T2 and T3...
IMO it worked well!

I interpreted that as "do a pace lap, then don't start until the exit of T3". I had no clue we would be positioned on the back straight and would not complete a full pace lap. It was never clarified. Is that starting position original for the track or was it moved back there for UKGPL? And where was the actual line where timing took place, or where the finish of the race happened? Because I saw the chequered flag where we started, but I wasn't sure if that is where the line was. My assumption was the actual line was where it should be, before T1.

The driving standard in this race was appalling. Soon after the start, some people seemed to be too aggressive and fell back, so I was left leading, exchanging positions with Alex. I was letting him pass me on the straights so we would pull each other along, but he would rather go defensively into T1 so we kept losing time and that allowed Evil to cling on to us, with Axel approaching fast as well. Eventually Barresi spun off,...
Son, change pusher: in my very short race, i have only mantained my position, without overtake or be overtaked by anyone and without spun.

So it wasn't you who went off in T1 a couple of laps after the start? That's what my pitboard was showing me, but perhaps there was some exchange of positions that I missed.

Damn guys...I've posted a drawing of the 2 zones, Modded part and Rolling Start part. It means nobody have seen it ?
I also asked if it were possible to place the image under the briefing cover page of the event...

I saw your image and it still can be interpreted in two ways as I pointed out. What wasn't clear was whether the rolling zone applies for after the pace lap is completed or it IS the pace "lap" itself.  Wink

Sometimes it helps to read the race post....

There is not a single word about a pace lap!

With the season 22 we have the "red zone" for the moderated part of lap one.
As I do not want to make a rolling full lap on long tracks, I declared a "rolling zone"

I've seen him just a few secs after you had crossed the finish line. He was waving the flag and shouting "...Axel the race has finished!!!!..."  LOL

Like I said in another thread, it is unacceptable for me that a driver could acquire points for the championship if he has completed only a few laps and I said such a thing also when it has occurred to me. I would prefer that a driver to gain points for the championship should have completed at least 75% of a race. This should have to aim to a better race management not trying to win a race at 1st or 2nd lap like often we can see now.

I personally like the idea of excluding all non-finishers from the points.
It would make the GT and PS series feel a little more like endurance racing.

For the two drivers that survive the first turn... who knows why, everyone drive much more recklessly when there's percentage requirement, and historic's standarts seem even lower than any other series.

We have rolling starts so all would have to survive the 1st turn, what are you talking about ?
