Luckily it was not a full grid!
Got back late really late from a day at the Olympic park - it was hot there; so of course we had to support the official lager supplier
But not too much support of course!
So, no time for any qually laps. It was then I found out that apparently I've never driven a F2 here before. I could have sworn there was a test a couple of months back too!
So luckily the default settings even had the correct amount of fuel. Well, thought I should stick another gallon in - you never know; maybe I would not have to shift-R & that initial fuel may have to make it to the end!
Starting right at the back, I was expecting to avoid any incidents/maybe even gain something...
I soon remembered that hump when I hit it at near full-speed!
Sorry to Jonny for bashing him around on Lap 2 but Dave gave me a fair biff to make up for it...
At least the Red-Zone was out of the way
Seriously though, it looked as if you needed some help to get shiny-side up. Also, didn't look as if the incident had enough flames initially; so happy to help make it look a little more dramatic.
Overall, I was probably lucky. A few mini-battles at times (I count being on the same corner as another a car a battle!).
Don't know what happened to JonnyO; I think we were exchanging lost time against the barriers, but once he was past - he was pulling away corner after corner. Then suddenly over the hill & far away; although that was apparently due to a disco. But honestly, I was only ahead prior to that due to misfortune elsewhere, so it really was not going to last long.
I've only been round here a relative few times in total; but it seems that it works with the tamed F2 machines.
No apparent frame-rate issues this time out, unlike the 67 (?) test.
Maybe that was due to lighter grid, running at the back, then running alone/with 1 other car at any one time. I think I may have hi-res (not sure which version I ended up with last year) & have been testing out on a 'borrowed' 1920x1080 monitor at around 50% graphics level. Maybe a little choppy at the edges of the monitor (but who looks there anyway) - but that would probably be improved when we all move to 60 FPS
Anyway, cheers for the run. The guys in front were running away & maybe it just pays to be kinda slow but not involved in too much stuff.
Dave.
