I will also partake.
Just curious, was Dijon especially popular last season, or is this a different version?
Cheers,
Bob.

Same version as last season. I've put it in because it is one of the shorter twistier tracks which should complement some of the longer faster tracks on the schedule. As far as popularity goes I'm not sure if it is a favourite but I know it is a challenge. I struggled with overheating tyres here last season and I lost a few places by trying too hard and frying my rears. But this is the elite Division so I would hope the drivers will relish the challenge of managing their tyres for this race. I've picked what I hope is a demanding set of tracks which will keep everyone interested and provide good passing opportunities and hence good racing. The obvious exception is Monaco, but we haven't raced here for a few seasons so it is time we did and as we all know it does present us with a unique challenge (which some hate and some adore). I am a bit unsure about Belle Island, I've picked it because it is different and has a lot of fast sweeping turns (in marked contrast to Dijon Prenois). We will need to run it on the practice server a few times to make sure it is OK. If there are any problems my contingency plan is to use Zolder instead.

This track has MAJOR wheels on/off track issues. Some early clarification of what is going to be allowed/not allowed might minimise the inevitable arguments later.

This again... it's mostly you who complains about this. The majority don't have a problem just using as much of the road as possible. What exactly prevents you from doing so as well?

I have never complained about this? Last season my engine blew at the start of lap 2 or 3, so I never got to put my wheels anywhere much. I simply remember there was some concern from other drivers, I think in the privateers race, but I might be wrong. Just seeking some clarification before the real fun starts.

Hm, OK, then it was someone else, sorry. I just recall there has been some arguing about this after last season's Works race.

Thanks for raising the issue Ronnie. Regardless of who complained (and I know it wasn't you) you are right to ask for clarification.
I think the most contentious part of the Dijon-Prenois track is Parabolique. Here the racing surface extends beyond the white lines and most drivers use it. So on this corner and any other similar corner (I will explicitly state which corners in the race announcement if necessary) the racing surface outside the white lines will be considered to be part of the track. Provided we all understand that there should be no problems.
A complication that may arise when moderating incidents is deciding when a driver is or is not performing a rejoin. So to clarify, if a driver has all 4 wheels outside the white lines but still on the "racing surface" they will not be deemed to have left the track and therefore will not be required to rejoin. However if a driver has all 4 wheels on the grass, gravel or other "non-racing surface" they will be deemed to have left the track and hence will have to perform a careful rejoin.
So in summary you can race when outside the white lines but you can't race if you are on the grass.

Although recorded with the 65s BT7, here is what my normal line around the track is and has always been, in all the different official league races I've raced, and what everyone else had no problem with, until it was argued about last season here and now as well (notice it's from season 20 Amateurs race and nobody complained back then): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRRxZeoKEaMAs you can see, apart from the outside line towards T1, it's mostly in the second half of the lap where one can position the car beyond the white line, both on corner entries and exits, to carry more speed. It just feels natural and it is particularly a lot safer in my opinion, than trying to hold on to a tighter circuit marked by the white line. The track is already very slow in those parts, especially in the 67s cars where you cruise around in 2nd gear. Let me know what you think though.

A perfectly legal lap IMO. I can understand why some people might not like the wide entry and exits, especially at T1 but if we all use the same lines then it will not be a problem. The alternative would be for me to have to moderate every corner of every lap to make sure everyone stays within the white lines. Not something I want to commit to .
