Moderator's Report

Nice Clean Red Zone like the Heavies? Not a hope :(

After the crash fest that was lap 1, however, there were no reported incidents.

Server replay time: 0

Piero is a bit hot in T1 and slides into Evil who has got very sideways.

This was a misjudgement from Piero and the contact was not heavy, however he should have been more cautious into the tightening bend. He may have been surprised by how sideways Evil was but anyone who has seen Blue Moose's lead driver sling his car round a corner will recognise the style...

Not sure why Bernie has joined the Light drivers - we would like to see him back in the Heavies!

Server replay time: 0h01m05s

Florian is too hot into T1... (have we seen that before?). No excuses for this one. Just too quick too soon. He rear ends AA. Baab is caught in the melee.

Server replay time: 0h01m30s

Piero makes a late dive on Fulvio and takes the Italian out. Piero might have made the corner but only if Fulvio had stopped...

The rukes have this: The overtaking car had NOT achieved a 50% or greater overlap at the point of turn-in. There was no loss of control by either driver. Penalty for overtaking driver.

Server replay time: 0h02m14s

Ronnie bounces off the polos and into the path of Andreas who takes avoiding action and spins. Unfortunate.

Server replay time: 0h02m39s

The Mercaldo boys are having an exciting first lap. Marco gets a bit sideways at Peralta and Baab takes hi opportunity to get up the inside. Marco moves gently back to the racing line and just clips Baab who is unaffected. Marco should have been more aware of Bob's position and left room but he is the only one affected.

Moderator's Report

Nice Clean Red Zone although BB owes Phillipe a beer after PG is kind at T1. BB should have been more cautious as he was always going to go wide.

No reported incidents although maybe that was because Bernie was on the other grid ;)

UKGPL Season 24 Extra Trophy (69X)
Race 1 Mexico City

Welcome to the first round of the Extra Trophy for 69 Extra chassis. Mexico lets the men be sorted from the boys. This is a standard Papy track which has a really long start/finish straight and lots of tight twisty sections! Hmm, who chose this track?

Our race is at the historic 2.747-mile race track "Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez" in Mexico City, named for the famous racing drivers Ricardo and Pedro Rodríguez. This track first hosted F1 in 1962 when Ricardo was killed in practice for the non-championship event. Despite this inauspicious start the course was a staple of the F1 championship between 1963 and 1970. The grip of the 69X is useful on this track and should provide some close racing if we can avoid the deadly polos. However, be aware that it could be a little crowded when we get to the esses first time round. There will be crashes and patience is a must. The first lap will be fully moderated within the red zone. The red zone will extend to the whole of the first lap.

Please check the Season 24 pages for details regarding rules and the Extra Trophy pages in particular.

It is very important that drivers are FULLY familiar with the rules relating to Shift-R. EVERY Shift-R MUST be followed by a Stop-and-Go or the driver will be excluded.

Hmmm. Join by IP should have worked Tris. What message?

Anyway, Heavy server crashed on Lap 1 - I was left alone - should I continue for a maiden win? No Sad Felt guilty as the server is upstairs...

Restarted and then had some nice laps with Fabio but blew the engine and then crashed getting into the pits... one-S/R is tough... These are fun though but we might run one grid at some point as attendances fall (they always do).

Thanks to a pile up at T1 I inherited second place and held onto it for a while.  About mid race Bob passed me and I got sideways at the Esses trying to stay with him.  Got collected by Hendy and had to shiftR.  Did a S&G and tried to make up for lost time but got discoed with 8 laps to go Angry.  Pity first half of the race was good, nice racing Hendy and Bob  thumbup2

Sorry for the contact Art and eD respectively. Good to see you both carry on although I noted Art had a blown engine later. Grats to the podium.

I was too tired to enter this. Looking at the lap times from the race and the track records above, something appears to be wrong?

Actually I think there was some substantial warp implied Ronnie, at least on my replay. And there was a lot in general tonight..So np of course, although I didnt blow the engine but crashed rather stupidly with 4 to go, caught out by some slow moving Ferrari I think, while trying in desperation to pass Bob. I had a lot of wings, which helped the laptimes but made life rather difficult during the race. So, was going bonkers trying to jump Bob, who was flying on the straight. I even did a 360 at L20, at the entry of the esses. Didnt touch a thing, nose pointed in the right direction, all my luck used up  Grin Grin, should have retired back then actually, so no complaints..

Sorry again to Bob for that bump at the last corner somewhere during the race, my fault, we had a lucky escape.

As for the start, will wait for the Mods to see and decide, although I am not quite sure Florian could have kept his side of the road at the speed he was going.

Everything else (and there was a lot...) I think was all right, thanks to Bernie and Nicky for letting me by. Grats to Goran for the win, and podium and finishers of course. See you next time guys.

Chout se the Lotus but my set up was to say the least "crap" actually used a steve cloyd jobby but found it unsuited to my driving style (they usually are )  changed a few things ( everything but the gearbox ) in the vain hope it would be better in the race , actually set my best time on race fuel so thought it would do me well but after a few laps it was awful , poor turn in mostly and slow out , just what you dont need . then I began to feel car sick everytime through the twizzy bits , felt like packing in but decided to keep going in the hope that everyone ahead would falter , a few did , the only cars I passed had sick engins or spun out . couldn't see the pit board cos the front wing blocked half of it out so no idea how many laps of torture were left till the flagman waved the chequered .

Qestion are there different physics betwixt the high and low wing cars or is they the same Huh

grats to all those who finished and to the lucky ones who got to taste the champagne  Smiley

Anyway, Heavy server crashed on Lap 1 - I was left alone - should I continue for a maiden win? No Sad Felt guilty as the server is upstairs...

Typical, I was in the lead, and couldn't spot Dave in my mirrors....all looking good......then......suddenly all looking at each other in chat. Bugger, server got fed up and chucked us all....(less the owner) out on our ears.

Managed to scrabble together a part way reasonable lap to take pole for the restart. Dave proceeded to do to me, exactly what I did to him on L1 of the previous start. Drove past me on the outside, so I had to leave him best into T1 for the first time. It was difficult staying with him for the early laps, the car was in no way interested in being pushed along. Managed to string together some fair laps, and with the assistance of some draft from Davids' Mac I managed (lord knows how) to post the fastest lap on lap 16. Then on L17 into T1, my 8yo decided he needed to tell me all about the TV program he was watching, continuing even after being told 3 times that I was racing....not practicing. Inevitably the break in concentration caused a spin at T1, but unlike Atillio, it wedged firmly against the outside rail....costing much time to turn around. Child exited, stage left, at a gallop.....his work done.  Embarrassed

The Lotus was grubby to drive for a few laps after til the rears cooled off again. Dave had shot through and was out of sight.....just cruised to the end from there to pick up the points. Not sure without the spin I'd have been able to do much about passing Dave when I caught him, he wasn't making much in the way of mistakes. Well done mate, deserving winner.
Paul, speedshifting will always kill your engine....still need to sort those upshifts out!

As Hristo said, it's just a visual difference. I prefer to run with no wings (for visibility's sake). To run no wings online, start an offline session with the car you want to use, pick the gfx options you want (little drop down box on the car selection screen), then when you join an online server (with the same car) you'll have the wing option you chose selected.

Good boy ! I send him all my thanks  Cheesy

It seems the good side of the tracks for the start was the left one.
Like Senna in Suzuka90, I will propose for the next races to change the pole position from right to left  Wink
