Rob, did Uli running around last at the glen last time out cost you the trophy?  Grin, just jesting

 Grin

But to be precise, Uli had suspension/tire damage, and only lapped him once  in whole the race! If you can control the car after that sort of dmg and aren't limping, no problem...so Uli had it always won, and well deserved over the season as well!!!

The problem for me is the cars that suffer from engine damage and limp dangerously slow to go to 50% distance...

Paul mentioned it isn't allowed anymore, but maybe we should include it in the first few racepostings, to make everyone aware of it!? Looks like it is most probable we keep 50%  distance to score....

This is a game and meant to be fun.

Having to complete 50% race distance, only being allowed to limp round in certain undefined circumstances, getting kicked out if someone decides your at fault even before you have a chance to explain yourself....

I'm all for making the life of the moderators/admins easier but this is getting ridiculous. None of this encourages long term participation over the course of a season.

My own problem is that I don't feel like putting in practice/setup time before races if I know points are not available to reward my effort regardless if I complete 50% race distance or not. To that end I am seriously considering registering for the amateurs/privateers where at least I would have a shift-r available to help me complete this 50% race distance invention which crept in without a vote into all series last season.

The idea that it improves peoples behaviour on track was conspicuous by its absence from what I saw and was involved in last season.

And does anyone know who is the current Pro champion???

But more than 50% of the voters want to keep the 50% rule and of the yes voters more than 50% of them want to keep the 50% rule for all series. Good luck Paul.

33% want to keep it but 66% want a change!!!

As I see it at the moment (25) voters only 28 % want to keep the rule as is and 56 %  want a change.
We shall see if the majority wins through.

I would just remind you that the 50% rule was introduced across all series due to (possibly non-representative) feedback. It is nothing to do with making life easier (it doesn't in any case).

The different analyses from the same numbers are making me smile though. I do data analysis for a living so....

Dice are a bit loaded - ditching the 50% rule would cause me a LOT of work.

. . . . It is nothing to do with making life easier . . . .

 . . . . . Some people do read this stuff.  Cheesy

Very cute Martin but the rule itself has nothing to do with making life easier for the Mods during the course of a season. If the vote is balanced, then retaining it is very much to do with making MY life easier  Grin

Well the results have not changed for a few days and although only 31% were happy with the current rule, only 31% wanted it definitively abolished. This vote is as balanced as it could be so it is going to stay as is for this season.

It will be up for debate in the mid season review which will be around October iirc.

Having said that, anyone found guilty of 'taking someone out' risks being retired at the point of offence. Drivers cannot be allowed to profit from a deliberate collision.

PLEASE try and bear in mind that nobody can win a race in the first corner so less risky moves on Lap 1 would be helpful.

Well, if ever anything was truly divisive, it is this - almost perfectly symmetrical!  laugh

Is it fair to say that this is our DRS? Opinions are split on it... and, once introduced to try and help the racing, it would be a lot of work to get rid of it again.... time was invested to make it happen. If only we could take both back, and make it easier for the F1 fans/mods..  angel

I do agree with penalties for those taking out others.. I had noticed this perverse incentive last season, where someone may indirectly profit/by accident etc. But, I also managed to almost haul a 3 wheeled car safely to mid-distance - at exactly 50% speed. Should I be made to retire, even if there are only 5 or so cars on track, and it's wide enough that I can not hold anyone up?  Huh

I can't agree with the "retire if your injured" ruling , I have finished more pro races or achieved the 50% distance in some kind of limp home mode than I have in a fully raceworthy car .

personally I think its subjective , and as Iestyn says , depends on the track and the amount of car damage , a big difference between e.g. Monza and Monaco !

Racers should always beware the white flag and like all good boy scouts , be prepared !

I don't think that you should have to retire but you MUST make sure that you do not impede a leader if your car is crippled. Gentlemanly driving would suggest that if you have several laps to go and only have three wheels, retirement is sensible. If it is three corners and you can safely stay out of the way then you can be a hero.
