Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

A flawless race by Jonny O in the BT24, who completes a hattrick with a Pole-to-Flag victory and setting the fastest lap! A great fight for the other podiumspots where David Rainier in the F312 prevailed in second just in front of Season 27 Privateers Champion Phil Thornton in another BT24. Great drives, gentlemen!

George Cheeseman had to settle for 4th in the Eagle after an off towards the end, pushing hard for second spot.

A great job by all, with all drivers classified. In general it was a very clean and consistent race by most, impressive! The moderator has submitted a Red Zone incident though, between Walter Conn and Michael Turner in Turn 3 on Lap 1.

It was my first Season as a divisional moderator, and you guys made my task reasonably easy. Thanks all and congratulations to Phil Thornton for the Championship! Very well deserved with 3 wins and 5 additional podiums. Actually Phil's worst position was 4th at Spa, as he missed Parco Sempione. Also well done to David Rainier and Jonny O for the other honourable placings, and their racewins.

Server replay time: 0h01m23s

Michael Turner makes a late lunge and touches with Walter Conn into Turn 3. Both can continue. There was no substantial overlap at turn in. Especially on Lap 1 in the Red Zone, drivers shouldn't take risks braking very late on cold tires and trying to make up a position in the braking zone. Walter might have been very cautious, but it is Lap 1.

Michael reports he saw a gap but didn't leave enough room to Walter. Walter reports he didn't see/expect Michael. Walter doesn't do anything wrong here, and was entitled to turn in. He felt he was the victim but didn't ask for a penalty for Michael.

The moderators have decided it's a Very Ambitious Overtake, and will retract 1 penalty place for leniency as Walter requested (normally 2 Penalty Places). However the Red Zone penalty will stand.

Michael Turner - Very Ambitious Overtake: Penalty 1 Place (+1 Red Zone) - The overtaking driver had not achieved any degree of overlap at turn-in. The overtaking driver WOULD have made the corner. Penalty for overtaking driver.

Hope you lot have practised for this one. UKGPL9 is set with a (hopefully) loose grid and 43 laps on Long length. I had to create the grid manually as I could find no loose grid in my collection.

Yes, Thank you

I was looking at my tokens. I think that I have ten. Does that mean that I can afford the Lotus for this race?

Thanks,
WC

Yes.  The 10 you have + the 10 for starting = 20

Bailed out when there was an incident with a car lapping me.
From the replay didn't look like my mistake. Stuff happens.

Tough race, grats to JonnyO and David.  Hard luck George, good racing!

Sorry for not staying on server to wish congratulations.  Having major problems ATM.  Everytime I go back to menu GPL crashes to destop.  I've installed something which doesn't agree with GPL  Roll Eyes

Hopefully I'll get it sorted for Season 28!

No it wasn't you fault. I had plenty of room to go around you from where I was sat and I judged there to be good separation between the two cars, next minute GPL says you're much closer than it thought and the separation distance vanishes. Frustrating. Not the first time, a car has appeared a lot closer than it seemed before. I'm beginning to suspect I have iffy latency online; it doesn't cause warping but every now and again, things seem to close up a lot quicker under braking than it initially indicated. Intensely irritating. Judging by the violent way my car flipped after what looked like a low speed nerf of the Brabham's gearbox, the two cars were probably deemed to have overlapped.

Anyway, I shudda picked the Lotus, I had the credits to do so but went with the Eagle. The V12 sounds glorious but it lacks torque when I needed it in the twisty bits, either that or my gearing was a load of.....

My apologies to Michael Turner for the incident going into turn three (the first left hand corner). I had just looked up at Prib, and it looked like I was 20 ft in front of the next car. So I did not give as much room as I would have if I had known someone was on the inside of me. Maybe next time I will try to look to my left before turning into the corner. I was able to continue undamaged, and it looks like you were able to continue also. I enjoyed having Michael and Bernie to chase, and also thanks to Pierre for chasing. The Lotus was really nice to drive. See you all next season.

I thought it was 50:50 Walter - I should probably have been a bit more over to the left - but I don't think the incident had any bearing on the final result.
Congratulations to the Champion and on to a new season
