Season 28 Amateurs Trophy - Round 10 – Mexico

The last round of the season is at Mexico's Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, a 2.786 mile race track in Mexico City, Mexico. This is the Papyrus track, loved and hated in equal measures. Scourge of the racer's lines are those polo tyres, sure to trip you up should you stray off course.

It is named after the famous racing drivers Ricardo and Pedro Rodríguez. The circuit got its name shortly after it opened when Ricardo Rodríguez died in practice for the non-Championship 1962 Mexican Grand Prix. Ricardo's brother Pedro also lost his life behind the wheel nine years later.

The circuit is located within the public park of the Magdalena Mixhuca Sports City in southeast Mexico City.

Replays Available here

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

This season, races are to be run at 60 frames per second – please use this patch 60fpsV2newmod.

Drivers must complete 50% of each race to score.

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page

Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated. The Red Zone will be from the start to the exit of the far hairpin on the first lap. Other moderation will be on reported incidents only or at the Moderators discretion.

Everyone knows that million-to-one chances happen 9 times out of 10. Why the hell do I keep crashing then?!

Hi,

First I want to tell you that I am not able to make the Race tomorrow, because I am on vacation in Italy.
Congrats to Billy for the Championship. I am Looking forward to the next Season and I Hope next Season more Drivers will join the races. The "Amateur Trophy" is a realy nice Community and it would be unfortunate if this group would be disbanded because we are to few Drivers.
Thank you all for this Season and have a nice Summerbreak.

Never mind;  good luck chaps.

Straight to the Mexican beer then!  Smiley

Cheers all,
Dave.

Sorry to see that happen Dave.

Congrats to race winner Phil and Season Champ Billy!

I managed to finish on the podium, but it was a tough battle.

Sadly, I was too far back to watch Billy and Phil have at it. I did watch your battle on the prib, and it looked like a good one.

Thanks for the race!

Unlucky Dave, you were very quick in qually and you probably would have gone on to win the race.

Great racing with Billy.  We swapped places a dozen times at least.  My front left was getting very hot by the end of the race but I somehow found enough grip to make a pass into turn 1 on the last lap.  Some great overtaking throughout and no contact whatsoever  thumbup1.  Grats on the championship Billy, well deserved.

Grats to Walter on the fastest lap.   You obviously had the pace and you would have been challenging for the lead if you hadn't lost time in the first few laps.

Hopefully the low turnout was just an end of season thing. Just 4 cars, down to 3 when Dave's connection dropped out.

I wasn't expecting a great deal with only Phil & Walt for company, but it turned out to be the best racing of the season. Apart from a couple of minor blips Phil & I were nose to tail for 24 laps. I lost count of the number of overtakes but I think we were both very conscious about giving each other room where an attempted pass might have caused a crash. If Walt had been a little quicker in the early laps it would probably have been a there way duel.
Very happy to take home my first championship after 12 seasons. There were other drivers who were quicker (particularly Philipe) but a season all about starting & consistently finishing enough races.

Having looked at the comparative times in the Pros I don't think I've earned the right to step up a division. Having got very comfortable with the Brabham I might take a different car next season, perhaps the BRM.

Moderation posted.

Now it's official : Billy is the new Champion for Amateurs Trophy !

Grats to Billy, and also to Walter (2nd) and Kai J (3rd), very nice podium !
Grats to Black Night Racing Team !

Bad luck for the 2 Phil : Girard (4 wins) and Thornton (2 wins), the only drivers winning more than one race, this season.

Thanks David for Moderating!

Thanks Jethro and Phil for the server!

If all goes to plan next season, I'll drive the Cooper, win the championship, and then drive the BT7 in season 30. If I don't win, (which is more likely) I'll drive the Lotus in season 30.  Grin

Congrats Billy on the championship - good going!

What with the low turnout - was hoping to move up a couple/few places in the final standings  Cheesy  but has still been an enjoyable season.

Cheers all & thanks to the mod team.
I'm sure we've all tried to keep it mostly clean Smiley

Cheers,
Dave.
