Just for fun until we get the new season up and running. Thought we might use the F2's as we have not had them used in anger for a while.  Grin

How about a 5 race series based on the Tasman races. 5 circuits in Australia and New Zealand.

Albert park
Amaroo
Lakeside
Sandown International
Bathurst or Adelaide

all available on the Track database

Heavies have a free choice of any F2 car but can only use each car once.

Lights can use Ferrari 166, Brab BT14, Cooper, Lotus 41 and Lola BMW , but again each car can only be used once .

2 Shift R's allowed in each race, but must take a SnG .

First 4 races approx 30mins..Final race approx 45mins.

Only reported incidents will be moderated, but we hope that evryone behaves nicely.  Wink

I would need some help from the servermeisters, but I can post the races if we can agree what days are best.

If you have not raced on the Albert Park track before you are in for a treat if you like racing (beautifully wide with lots of run off) but not if you like eye candy (apart from track, grass and tree border, none). Personally I think its great. Great idea Clive.

A good theme for a Series, and the right cars for the job.  Lakeside is a fun filled neck stretcher, while of Amaroo there are two.  We have raced them, and Amaroo67 was the non-disco-izer I think?

There are only of F, two cars as serious handicap consideration, but happily heavy piloting is popular, so it all works and privateers.  For anyone interested in trying anatomically correct Tasmania, carsets are here : http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=5015&#entry38343  Physics used are of 65 ilk for earlier years, and 67 ilk for later.  I suspect F2's are the better choice for tighter tracks.

For your interest, the F1 Ilk was raced by Stirling Moss, but as he'd already retired, it does not show in any results. Grin

Well remembered re Amaroo 67, the original was a nightmare for discos, but the revised version provided some fun racing.

I will post the correct version for the race.

We could run this series over the next Sundays and Tuesdays which, if we started on Tuesday 1st Sept would give us a couple of weeks breathing space to organise something else, before we get into next season.

Great initiative Clive, a good time to  dust of the F2's and to get to know some "new" tracks! Thanks to Axel hosting. Smiley

On a sidenote 1 reset might be enough, with the shorther races and damage model of the F2's...

I believe that Wigram is a bit dodgy. There were several discos the one time I raced there & I vaguely remember someone saying another league had problems.

We continue to use Goodwood which has known problems so there is no absolute reason to blacklist Wigram but probably best not to use this for the longer race. Possible alternates are Surfers Paradise or Bathurst / Mt Panorama.

Adelaide also, if a larger collection of corners is preferred. Cool

Yeah, I would love to have Bathurst / Mt Panorama, the best track down-under...

OK, there are some historical issues with Wigram ( although I thought someone had engineered a fix??).

So maybe Mt Panorama or Adelaide would be better for the longer race at the end. I will toss a coin and decide later today.

I just need to post up a fun race for Albert Park today and kick things off. are we Ok to use Sunday for the next in the series, or has someone got other plans for that evening???

EDIT:-
RACE DETAILS POSTED ON FORUM, I HAVE NOT LINKED IT TO THE DATABASE AS IT IS A PURELY FUN EVENT. BUT I  HAVE FORGOTTEN HOW TO MOVE IT TO THE TOP OF THE LIST??

Happy to see someone has done their homework, and checked the records re: Amaroo.  It's hard to remember as far back as 1967. blink
