Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

Philippe Girard wins the race, leading from start to finish, completing a hattrick, congratulations! Phil Thornton finishes second recovering from bad luck on Lap 1. Ronnie Nilsson rounds out he podium, despite having a full tank of fuel. Well done!

Server replay time: 0h01m20s

Dave Curtis takes to the grass and crashes. Doesn't hit anyone and so wasn't involved but might have distracted Bernie and Fran. Fran has enough overlap to challenge (>50% but <100%) so a racing incident but could have been avoided if Bernie had noticed Fran had disappeared from his mirrors and hence realised he was along side; hence should have stayed left and given Fran room.

In the aftermath Pierre hits Phil, who slowed for the wrecks in front. Pierre reports he had a braking problem (locking up the rears) that he didn't fix before the race and ultimately has to retire after a few laps, when he spun again braking. Since Pierre clearly had problems, I will only give a Warning.

Dave Curtis - please take extra care on Lap 1
Bernie Darwin - use your mirrors for awareness, Dave might have caused distraction though

Server replay time: 0h07m39s

Dave Curtis tries to get alongside Bernie towards the Big Bend. Bernie loses control under braking and hits Dave. Both can continue.

Server replay time: 0h40m42s

Dave Curtis is following Billy for some laps, he is faster and tries to pass Billy entering the Loop. Dave had just about enough overlap, the attempt was legit. However Dave loses control under braking and slides up into Billy. Dave reports he tried to back out of it but locked up and lost control. Billy reports he did expect Dave to back out of it and takes his usual line entering the Loop. Billy has to do a reset but did ask for no penalty.

Server replay time: 0h41m34s

Francesco doesn't come to a full stop, also doesn't seem to try to stop in one of the pitstalls. Since he retired later he didn't gain an advantage, and I will only give Advice: please come to a full stop in one of the pit stalls.

Server replay time: 0h51m28s

Pierre fails to perform a Stop & go after doing a reset. Since he retired early in the race I will only give Advice: please do a Stop & Go after reset, within 3 laps.

Speedshifting means changing gear with the accelerator still pressed, causing over-revving.
it is possible that during the pursuit of your car I was less careful about this, but i don't know.
Anyway the second seem gratis.

Speedshifting means changing gear with the accelerator still pressed, causing over-revving.
Yes it does.

When I used a paddle shifter with automatic clutch I hardly ever over revved the engine (and very very rarely had engine problems) because it is quite easy to time a slight throttle lift with a flick of the paddle.

Now I use a H-Shifter with manual clutch (G25) it is a whole lot harder. Using heal/toe with my right foot to trail brake constantly into a corner and lifting the throttle momentarily whilst using my left foot to dip the clutch and changing gear on the H-Shifter at the same time is difficult to say the least and that means I quite often get it wrong.  That means I either over-rev the engine by mistiming the throttle and clutch or, miss a gear (and hence over-rev by applying the throttle when I'm in a false neutral) by mistiming the clutch and the gear selection.  Since I've started using a manual clutch I've blown up a lot of engines (mainly the 69x McLaren).

Fran,
When you say you are using a "H ACTlabs with cluth as shifter" does that mean you are using a manual clutch?  If so you are probably having the same difficulty timing the clutch as me.  If not you are just not lifting the throttle enough when changing up.  I've had a look at the replay from your in-car view and it does look like you are not lifting the throttle enough when you change up.  Your rev counter always jumps a bit when you change up a gear. Have a look at the replay from my in-car view and you will notice I hit maximum revs before changing up a gear and then the revs drop down smoothly, the revs don't momentarily jump.

...I made a fatal click and forgot to choose my setup, ending up on the grid with the standard setup and enough fuel to get to Mars.  ......
Unlucky Ronnie.  I've done something similar in the past, I've started the race on qually fuel only to get 3 or 4 laps in and run out.  No good in a PRO race!!!

Yes,the problem,in my opinion,is that when i release the  gas there is no enough "neutral" zone.I mean that when i touch the gas i have immediately power, well distibuted. So well distributed that i can have a good control of the power but since like in the real car you don't remove the foot from the pedal i do the same here but, probably, is not enough.
I need a 0 power a little bigger but is not possible to set this with program ,must be done mechanically.I i do mechanicaly mean to move the potenziometer but in this way i lose the maximum power.
I use an old Faster Pedal,no more in production.

I understand now.  I only have to move my throttle less than a centimetre to drop the revs.

A few years ago I had a Thrustmaster Wheel with a broken throttle potentiometer that would not zero.  When I got a new wheel my lap times actually went up. Apparently it is good to have a bit of throttle on in heavy braking as it helps to steady the car.

Fran , have you tried calibrating your pedals from inside GPL game - options - calibrate ?

I have to do this for every time I join a race otherwise my gas pedal is over sensitive , might be worth you trying  Smiley

I must check if there is the possibility to set the gas with GPL-shifter.For the clutch there is the possibility to set the sensibilty. In this way if you push the clutch only 50% is like a 100% and this reduce the possibility to fail the gear.

Hope you get the clutch sorted Fran.  Antipasti may be the only 100% manual clutch Team in the Privateers.  Now that deserves some respect  I Am Not Worthy

Yes, also becouse reproduce the driving of the era that was not so easy like a paddle or button driving.
More ore less i have lost 1sec per lap on shorter track like Monza from paddle to manual H gear+clutch.

Respect to you.  I don't use paddle shift, but manual stick, for more realism, but I only have a 2-pedal setup.  There's a post on SRMZ which details how it was in real life - double declutching, heel-toeing, etc. A different world.
