Season 34 – 1955 Grand Prix – Round 1 – Zandvoort

The first race in the 1955 Grand Prix series takes us to Zandvoort in the Netherlands.  The first race held on the new permanent Zandvoort circuit was on 7 August 1948. Soon more races followed on the course, with the first official Formula 1 Grand Prix becoming a milestone in 1952. From 1952 until the mid-eighties, heroes like Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss, Graham Hill, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, James Hunt, Nelson Piquet and Alain Prost braved the challenging course in the Dutch dunes and won at Zandvoort. After the Grand Prix of 1985, the Formula 1 circus left Zandvoort, but the seaside resort and its impressive race track were not forgotten. Many years after the last Grand Prix, the ‘racing drivers of the day’ still talk about their experience on the race track where the challenging corners ‘separated the men from the boys’.

Handicapping and chassis allocation.
This season the 1955 Grand Prix cars will again be using a token system which allows drivers to purchase any chassis of their choice for a given number of tokens as published on the championship standings page. Drivers classed as Amateurs will be allocated an additional 10 tokens.  The token allocation will not be managed in SRou this season so (unlike the 67F1 Works and 67F1 Privateer divisions) the tokens available to each driver will not appear in the championship table (when the mouse pointer is hovered over the driver's total).  Rather, the available tokens will be published in the race announcement. See table below.

Available Tokens:
Note: These are the tokens available to each driver before the 10 tokens are added for making the race start.

methinks Clive is getting a little over excited about the start of the new 55 season?  Roll Eyes

If I were a really mean person ( which of course I am not, as you all know ) I could offer a plain brown envelope stuffed with currency for someone to take him out at T1 shifty

But no-one would do that......would they??  Evil

BTW 2 sleeps!!!  Wink

No need to sponsor anyone.  There is apparently always someone ready to end my race for me before the flag appears!

Posters all printed, in Dutch, and in the hands of Mabel's extended family in the Netherlands.

As this contract will have to be completed prior to any vote on Brexit, the amount offered is subject to EU trade and competition laws, so my legal expert ( read "Arnold" here ) has advised me that I must offer this up for tender to the lowest bidder.  Undecided

This does pre-suppose that I can catch him in the first place to perform said manoeuvre, I cant. I'm out.
Also, who is UKGPLs brexit minister? I need a GB sticker for the back of the Gordini.

A '55 practice server would be nice, once in a blue moon!

Edit:  Typical!  Not had a race since the beginning of December and now I have two in three days!  http://pdlr.gaiztor.com/ are running Buenos Aires on Tuesday if anyone is interested in more 55 action.

Just did an offline practice in that infernal French Grotdini, and I cannot get it below 1:40 at Zandvoort, so the race on Sunday is not looking promising  Undecided

Never joined the Gaiztor server, but we ( UKGPL) have a 66 race on Tues, so that kind of takes care of that option?

Worry not.  I've never broken the 1:40 barrier in anything!
