Season 36 1967F1 – Round 4 – Oulton Park - Seniors
Season 36 is a joint series between GPL Brazil and UKGPL. This post is for the Senior division. Round 3 takes place at Oulton Park in the UK. The track is set in the grounds of Oulton Hall, which were used as an army staging camp by General Patton prior to the Normandy landings. At this time the famous boxer Joe Louis gave exhibition bouts at Oulton Park in the vicinity of the Deer Leap section of the circuit. GPL members are kindly requested not to resort to this sort of behaviour. The track is characterised by rapidly changing gradients, blind crests and several tight corners. The full circuit is 2.8 mi (4.5 km).

Grats to Tristan on the win and commiserations to those who dropped out. I could not match Tristan's pace in his Brabham, but after a few retirements it did look like 2nd place was possible. I had jumped past Jonny J at the start, but relaxed a little too much and he closed up again. I thought that I was managing the gap quite well and could probably keep 2nd spot for the second half of the race, but approaching T1, my pedals slipped away from my foot just when I needed the brakes and I ran off into the barriers. Jonny was through, but I was lucky because there was a big gap back to Dumas in 4th and I was able to get myself going in 3rd spot. A couple of laps to check that the car was OK, and then I started to hunt down Jonny, but the gap was just too big so I settled for 3rd place on the podium with 3 laps to go. Well done to my team mate Doni for getting the BRM home in 5th place

If there is a demanding track in the concentration, this is Oulton Park !!!! I could bet before the start that I would win some positions over the course of the race, but frankly I did not expect so much, I did not make any pilot passes, I only won positions for mistakes. I had a good pace capable of accompanying Clive during the race and maybe pressing at the end, but it was not necessary, I could see Clive missing in turn 1, luckily he returned to the race! Our pace was very similar and it would be impossible to pass, just one mistake. I'm very sad for Alex, two races being hit, I hope he has better luck next time, having Miele and Tim's abandonment of racing helped to give some excitement in the championship, but the question is, will we be able to hold Tim? Congrats Tristan !!!! But I believe that Clive and me were the lucky ones in the podium !!! Highlight for Doni's great score with BRM!

Definitively, Oulton Park is a french friendly track

Well I just have to say, walking away from Oulton Park in the P115 BRM with a P5 placing in my pocket was light-years beyond my expectations. I would have been pleased with a P8 at best. To be sure, I profited from the great misfortunes of others. Three lead serial cars effectively eliminated on Lap05 was more a tragedy than a gift. Sorry for that, fellas. Off the start, I chased Fulvio in the Cooper for many a lap just holding the gap to a reasonable degree. Only a slip by him to let me by resolved the issue. Then, in chasing Ricky, I had no hopes whatsoever of making a pass but then his engine let go. Up to P5 with Dulima well clear and that's how it wound down. Nice drive by Tris for the win. Great drive by Jonny for P2. Clive a good P3 after a dramatic run up the bank in T1. I can't hardly believe that you got it down from there, Evil. Good on ya!
