Season 38 1965F1 – Round 2 – Privateers - Cadwell Park

Cadwell Park is a much loved racing circuit in Lincolnshire in Eastern England.
In 1926 Mr. Mansfield Wilkinson bought a part of the old Cadwell Hall country estate adjacent to his farm. His sons, Charles and Christopher, started to race each other around the gravel drives on their motorbikes. The track was improved, widened and lengthened over the years to become what it is today. The names of the Wilkinsons live on in the names of some corners. The track is used more for motorbike racing rather than modern high powered car racing, because of its narrowness and lack of run off areas in places.

No way!!!! I managed to climb back to third after a fantastic battle with MH, only for a PC FREEZE as I climbed the Mountain. No option other than to restart my PC. I hope I didn't cause an accident in the process. I'm off for a BEER. See you all next time.

However, I was wrong - it's great!

Bad luck Pete, that was a hectic race. The pace was terrific. Grats to Eric for keeping cool for a flag to flag victory and to David for his customary error-free drive.  I made too many mistakes trying to engineer a pass and dropped back. I worked my way back up the field but only because of other people's mistakes. I couldn't make a genuine pass stick anywhere. I thought I had a podium when Dave ran wide and I sneaked past but I made a stupid mistake a couple of laps later and he retook the place. Great performance from Martin in the BT7; that buzzy engine is a right pain when it is on your gearbox. I thought I was going to get stung by a swarm of bees at any moment!

After the replay analizer i have seen that i lose 1,5 sec. in the last sector but i have not understood what is wrong in my driving.
In comparison with Martin i have the best second sector so the best lap becomes 1,30(around).

Link is working here - I'm using Firefox, as Chrome can prevent some Sites working.  Overly cautious? Undecided

With many laps you should understand, the track comes with corners which are not flat.  Maximum speed is not always the middle.  One fast lap is not a problem but, to make every lap fast is a problem, which makes this track an exciting place to race.  The BT7 has the smallest kg weight, and the smallest b.h.p. motor, so it is fast on the corners, and slow on the straight.

With three cars tuned and ready to roll, horizontally, I chose the one most fun to fling around the Cad  well, whilst hoping to avoid the cud well!  And thus commenced our high speed fling - formation flying,  whilst at the limit of trying to avoid dying, amidst the undergrowth. Shocked

We fast became a high speed train, of a half dozen, all evenly paced with each one chased, by another.  With great skill we pounded the track, rather than each other, to several times discover a scattering of spectators, with places gained and lost.

It all went well, I'm pleased to tell, until a bridge too far got in my way, and refused to move!  My tyres had needed a rest, but I had did me best, to claim the deserved victory, of best of the rest.

I've compared one of your better laps (lap 21) with one of mine. It looks like you are losing the most time on the Mountain and the other very tight sections. Looking at the replay I think you are not using the whole width of the track compared to me. But I would caution about getting too greedy with the track width, that was my downfall in this race. A couple of times at Charlie's, I was trying to use all the track width to get a good drive onto the Park Straight and I touched the grass and I was off.

Now i' msure.tested ukgpl4 and i have only 4 gears with the lancia.With ukgpl10 i have all the 5 gears.
I have found the ukgpl10 not the 5.Obviously i don't have an explanation but in this condition for my season is a problem.

Are you using Fairshift? I don't use it myself (using ACTshift) but from some comments at http://neuforum.gplracer.de/viewtopic.php?f=80&t=68   appears a couple of others also have issues with higher gears not available when joining an online server:
Quote
Problem with 6-th gear in multiplayer. 6-th gear works in training, single race and when user host race. But when he joins server then 6th gear not functional. It's happening with all mods, I think

This was in a discussion re: v2.1,  but from last year/no further confirmation/status/fix.

EDIT: also came across similar discussion at http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=11632  but maybe that is you in that thread Fran? Smiley
