We will be at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in Germany.  It has enjoyed a reputation as a terrifying and merciless route through the Eifel forest. An English journalist who visited the Nordschleife during the opening race on 18 June 1927 concluded “that it seemed as if a reeling, drunken giant had been sent out to determine the route”. The Formula 1 driver Jackie Stewart – a three-time world champion in 1969, 1971 and 1973 – was so impressed by the circuit that he gave it the name it will probably never lose: the Green Hell (Grüne Hölle). Racing and winning on the Nordschleife has always been very special for racing drivers, because the track is one of the most demanding in the world. Tricky corners, treacherous crests, steep inclines and gradients and constantly changing road surfaces demand great skill from the drivers and provides the cars with a very hard test.

Everyone's favourite track to hate, The infamous Nurburgring where a mistake can mean a long walk hike back to the pits.

Please remember that you have to drive back to the pits for repairs during qualification. If you wreck your car during qualification then you sit out the rest of the session and take your place with the best time you have posted or, if no time has been posted, at the back of the grid. The moderator will be watching.

Driver lists and division specific rules can be found on the Season 38 pages   https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?action=LM2R&group=1332&theme=6

During qualifying drivers are expected to drive back to the pits after each qualifying run. It is not permissible to return to the pits using the "Esc" key. If a driver crashes his car in qualifying and cannot return to the pits safely under his own power, he must not participate in the remaining qualifying period. The driver will be allocated the grid slot achieved at that point.

Each driver may use 2 cars through the season.
Works drivers cannot use the Lotus or Eagle.
Each car must be used a for maximum of 5 races.

Two new licence applications today.  I've not driven these cars in some years, or competed in a race this long.  Every lap completed would be a victory. Smiley

At the beginning of the season I was really looking forward to it, with something between excitement and horror. I think the longest race I took here was 3 laps and usually I needed several tries to do it. But these were single player races and I really pushed for the whole 3 laps. Unfortunately I will miss this race as well. I am still in Malta to do some voluntary work till the end of this month.
If I haven't completely forgotten how to drive then maybe we will see each other on track in Tripoli or Hockenheim. Anyway, have fun at the green hell!!

Spun it out all by myself, no too hard but got stuck in the hedges of Kallenhardt and that was that. In the 5th lap too, so no points either for the team... Shame to throw away a P3 on the Ring like that. Sighs.

Broken engine for me in the long straight while chasing Uli for P2 in lap 3.
All the bad luck/bad driving started during qualy, throwing away a potential pole in the very last corner. But that's the spirit of Nurburgring. You can master 173 corners and throw all the hard work away in the last one.

Anyway, it was fun until it lasted. Congrats to all finishers! Surviving 10 laps in this track is something awesome

I got past half way, which is a measure of success. I ran into a hedge on the long straight on the 8th lap, shame not to get to the finish flag but the toe on my braking foot was glad to take a break. Long distance at the Ring is hard work.

If you want finish first you have to finish first.

Get well soon Axel and Happy Birthday Alain.

Congratulations Tristan on your sovereign victory! Congratulations and congratulations to you Clive – from 14 to 3! great race! Nice to be on the podium with you both.
I messed up the start, so I could only finish third on the big loop. Tristan was the first to pass Frank who let us both pass fairly and was able to pull away lap after lap. When I tried to increase the pace, I spun and had with 3 laps to go I had an accident. After that, my left front suspension was damaged.
It's nice that I was able to finish the race anyway.
