Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0

Setting a qualifying time in more than one chassis is against the rules. Pete did not gain an advantage here, or disadvantage anyone else, so it's a caution this time.

A win for Philippe Girard, closely followed by Pete Bennett. Both beat the rest of the field and their anisotropic settings to reach the finish. Leo Menegucci rounded out the podium.
No incidents reported.

Season 38 1965F1 – Round 6 – Amateurs - Albi

For round 6 we visit Albi in the Midi-Pyrénées region of France. Racing first started on the Circuit des Planques in 1933, the pits and startline being on a short straight before the road twisted down into St.Antoine. At St.Juery the cars had to contend with an extreme hairpin bend, followed by a railway level crossing. The 5.531 mile circuit was shortened in 1951 to 1.859 miles, before being closed in 1955 following the Le Mans disaster. Racing resumed at the nearby Aerodrome in 1959 which is the circuit we now know as Albi. The Chicane du Sequestre was introduced in 1988. Albi has never hosted a championship F1 race, but it held a Formula Two race in 1967 and we will be using the layout used then. Jackie Stewart won that race in his Matra. He was followed home by Jochen Rindt in a Brabham and Jim Clark, who had spun his Lotus near the Dunlop bridge.

Grats Philippe you were very quick tonight. The Honda is a little down on top speed so I struggled to fend Dave off for several laps. I think it was clean racing, great driving Dave. I had to rely on some mistakes up front to gain a couple of places but there was no chance of a podium unless someone had a big off. As a group we are getting better and faster, there is no room for error in this championship. Tiny mistakes are the difference between disaster and glory!

Very happy to see Philippe has solved his screen freeze issues  thumbup2

This series just gets better and better. I'm trying to use each car once for the first seven races and today was the turn of the Lotus. I was glad of the extra speed down the long straights but I couldn't catch Philippe. As for the first 12 laps... they were AWESOME. The front four were so close, lap after lap. Well driven everyone.

I'm not sure what happened on lap 12 though as we raced down the main straight. Eric's red Ferrari suddenly filled my mirrors before he shot straight on into the bales. Looked as though he had lost his brakes or maybe fallen asleep at the wheel. Either way, I managed to dodge his spinning Ferrari and also Leo. A bit too close for comfort but I was glad of the slip as I couldn't see any other way to make up places tonight.

No freezes for me lately either. Philippe, did you turn your Anisotropic settings down? If so, has that helped? That seems to be one that causes the freezes on my system both on Linux and Windows. It's been rock-steady reliable for the past couple of weeks so I'm going to leave all settings well alone.

See you in a couple of weeks at Sandown. I have a feeling that Phil will soon catch up in terms of points as I'll be in thed Cooper. The only saving grace is that the track is so narrow so I'll probably just be a roadblock. I may have to fit extra wide tyres to make it even harder to pass. See you all in fortnight.

Thanks once again for some spectacular racing this evening. Fun, fun, fun.

Had the wrong set up.
The car didn't feel quite right in qualifying and only about third of the amount of fuel actually required for the race.

First, I'using google translator, I hope it'll not to "funny"!

One of the most depressing and frustrating races I have ever done. I had an amazing bug, I'm sorry for the bowling collision. Something appeared at the top right, the latency trick appeared I think?!?!? At that time, cars like mine disappeared. I had never seen this bug, but my howls of frustration were genuine!
As a result, I fell 6th after the family collision..;( (Sorry Pete and others..  Huh)

I managed to climb up to 5th place, but the bug came back! I have lost all my concentration, even my taste for running.

   Tomorrow is another day!

Qually went well for me with a half decent grid slot , The race however started bad , first off I couldnt here my engine for Phils screaming Honda , then when the flag dropped  I find someone has spilled a couple of gallons of super glue on my grid spot and Im going nowhere fast . I get swamped at the start , then find someone has let the air out of my tyres as I reach the double bend , slide off track and watch as everyone goes by . A few laps later I encounter a stationary ferrari right in my path , the resulting T bone needs both of us to re set , but I have to wait for him to reset and pass me first before I am allowed , that puts me even further behind .

And so begins a lonely race to the flag . I was about to give in but there was nowt on the telly worth watching so decided to soldier on in the hope that everyone else would become a cropper and leave me to take the flag as the sole survivor ! ( well we have to have a dream )  Roll Eyes

Grats to the podium and all the other brave soles  Grin

Pete, I have putting in 2 my anisotropic set, and I have changing my gpl install, I have putting on my SSD (on the advice of Axel)
to summarize, I have 2 modifications, I do not know which one has the most impact.
I leave everything as it is, it works well, I win races, lol

a big thank you to you and axel
