Moderator's Report

Summary
A victory for Philippe Girard ahead of Dave Curtis with Eric Bilodeau picking up the final podium place.

Server replay time: 0h00m59s

Lap 1 – Turn 1 – Albert Hallu and David Rainier
Albert gets a great start and overtakes three cars on the run down to turn 1. However, he fails to slow down enough for turn 1 and he rear-ends David. Both cars can continue but they lose a lot of time with David ending up in last place.

David did nothing wrong.

Albert was a little too ambitious. He should have been content in having overtaken three cars but he pushed his luck and rear-ended David.

  • Albert Hallupenalty — Blatant Rear End Shunt: Penalty 2 Places plus 1 place for first lap — 3 places lost

Server replay time: 0h01m12s

Lap 1 – Turn 1 – Fabio Locarno and David Rainier
Fabio has to take to the grass in order to avoid the spinning cars of Albert Hallu and David Rainier. Fabio rejoins the circuit but instead of staying off the racing line until he is up to speed, he immediately moves across the track forcing David onto the grass.

David did nothing wrong.

Fabio should have stayed off the racing line until he was up to racing speed.

Server replay time: 0h02m12s

Lap 1 – Turn 8 – Fabio Locarno and David Rainier
Fabio runs wide at Turn 7 and David overtakes him along Hurry Downs and is ahead as they approach the braking zone for Turn 8. Fabio is still focussed on recovering and appears to be surprised by David’s move and consequently he misjudges his braking and rear-ends David.

David did nothing wrong.

Fabio should have been aware of the Ferrari alongside him and should have been prepared for a duel on the brakes. Consequently, the responsibility for the incident lies with Fabio.

I qualified fifth, just ahead of Eric. At the start he outdragged me, but I late-braked into T1, recovered a spot or two for a few milliseconds, but couldn't hold it and slid onto the grass wide. Great. At least I didn't take out half the field the way I'd done at T1/L1 two weeks ago. By the time I'd recovered, I'd lost several spots. I followed Francesco for a couple of laps until he blew up his engine on L4. That put me behind Eric again, and we stayed that way --- just one or two seconds apart --- for the next twenty laps. At the end Dave, Eric, and I were just three seconds apart and eighteen seconds behind the winner. It doesn't get a lot tighter or cleaner than that.

Two comments: 1) Francesco, you blow up your engines because you routinely exceed the tach's red line. The Ferrari's maximum RPM is 10,500. Your race wasn't one second old before you'd hit 11,000 and you exceeded 10,500 RPM 15 more times on the first lap alone.  2) If the organizers DQ Pete for using a car not available to his bank account, why aren't Philippe, Dave, and Eric upgraded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the race?

No Pepe,i was carefull to change the gear well before the red line. The only doubt is that i have used the second gear into the carousel instead of the third used during the qualy.Could be possible that i have reached an high RPM especially during acceleration at the exit.

I suggest that you use the analyser to look at your first lap Fran.
It doesn't matter at what revs you change gear if you don't lift off the power before the clutch disengages.

We have had this discussion before and concluded that it is something to do with fairshift.

You blow up too many engines for there not to be something wrong with your gear shifts.

I lift off the power, but could be possible that i have used a wrong diff.ratio.Comparing my replay with the other Ferrari,in some place i reach the red line.If you have time try to look my replay from the cockpit and than you give me your opinion.
What is strange is that 11laps in qualy with the same method have not produced damage,3 laps in race was enough to demage the camshaft.

All engines are not created equal.  If you have a strong engine it will take 11 laps of abuse.  If you have a weak engine you should usually be ok to reach the end of the race but in that case your gear changes have to be perfect.

Some engines are very weak and only require one mistake for them to fail.  I have seen engines fail on the grid.

Clive i have tested now a diff.ratio 9/31 instead of 8/31 and seem much more better to mantain the rpm under 10.000 also during the gear change. Now i have only a race to do and a pay attention to the diff.ratio to be used.

when you are again rearended on lap 1 after 2m12s

I guess I was that one...   oops
Sorry for it Dave.

Bad race for me.
I didn't have the pace with the fat bottomed car, I was lapped twice and, finally, the engine exploded  death

See you on next track

Cheers from Italy

It's a long time since I last drove the Lotus 'in anger,' and it showed.  Not helped when the car started to fall apart!

During a 2nd horticultural interlude, it seemed it might be quicker to pick the car up, and put it back down on the track.  And that's when my wheel came loose, from the desk it was clamped to.  Now clearly, I should've picked up the desk instead, but the car was still moving, and I was rather busy at the time.  Undecided

Managed to re-tighten wheel to desk, and re-attach car to road, even though no-one stopped to help.  With the fast crowd ahead matching my pace, and a rather large space, there was nothing else to do but grab the fastest lap, and run out of road.

OK Fabio  Wink

Just a question : do you use Pribluda ?
I noticed you left the pits without having a look to other cars on track.
And after the big contact with several cars (Hallu responsible) on lap 1, you rejoined the track in a very bad way (look at the replay) forcing me to go on the grass.
So I was not sure you used Pribluda.

Congratulations to Philippe on the victory. I overspent on tokens by taking the Ferrari so point nul pour moi.  Roll Eyes  1st to DQ in the blink of an eye. What a berk I am. Hey ho. Still, good to know that I can now get these 67 cars around a track in one piece. Grats to all and see you at the next round.

Yes, I use it but maybe should I use it in a better way...  Cry
