Season 40 1967F1 PRIVATEERS – Round 4  - Norisring
Round four in the 1967 F1 series finds us at Norisring a street circuit in Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany.
Originally established as a motorcycle racing venue in 1947 and named in a 1950 competition to win a light motorcycle, the track became known as a sports car racing venue in the 1970s. The great mexican racing driver Pedro Rodríguez De La Vega died at the Norisring in 1971 when the Ferrari 512 he was hired to drive hit the bridge wall before the Schöller-S and burst into flames.

You are allowed to use the refuelling (pitstop) patch which is a good backup in case you put in the wrong fuel for a Pro race. Make sure you use V1 without the tyre wear!

These city tracks for me are mainly about not committing suicide. If you can avoid banging the car up, attrition will do the rest. I qualified 7th, about where I'd expected to be, and gradually crawled up to 4th at the end, dead last (and three laps down!) of those still running. The only problem was tangling with Bernie in a blind spot at T4 on about L7 (the exact spot where Eduardo and Ricardo came together at 22:19 of the race clock). We were both fortunate in being able to continue. In practice I'd found that the slightest contact with any wall would produce significant handling problems, but I felt no change in the Honda at all.

Sorry for the contact Pepe , I didn't plan to pass you there but going into the corner I saw you had locked up and swung right to avoid rear ending you , I thought I had given you space on the corner but contact was made . but glad you could carry on . Looking at the replay you were really lucky to survive that one  Roll Eyes

Yes, but it came on at about 10:30pm on Sunday, just as your race was finishing. Hopefully it'll remain on now Smiley
