Season 41 - Ferrari Challenge  ROUND 4    1967-F2  Vallelunga '71

For round FOUR, we jump into the Formula 2 cars. The Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi is a racing circuit situated 32 km (20 mi) north of Rome, Italy, near Vallelunga of Campagnano. Vallelunga was built as a sand 1.773 km (1.102 mi) oval in 1959. From 1963 the circuit held the Rome Grand Prix, and in 1967 a new loop was added when the track became the property of the Automobile Club d'Italia. Further refurbishment was undertaken in 1971. The track is named for the famous Italian racing driver Piero Taruffi.

Please note that this is the 1971 version which runs in  CLOCKWISE direction.

All drivers are on a level playing field in terms of chassis. There is no distinction between Works and Privateer drivers in this series. Please respect each other and leave plenty of room when lapping or being lapped. Only reported incidents will be moderated.

UNLIMITED Shift-Rs allowed with NO need for a Stop and Go. Please use PRIBLUDA to make sure that the track is clear before re-joining.

I think I have been practicing on the wrong Vallelunga ?

3 spins saw me drop well back but I had a couple of good battles with David and Doni before I got lapped by Yannick. Then a couple of laps later Yannick appears to have crashed at Trincea and as I drove past his upturned car I got discoed

great track, great fun and some great racing.

I only had one spin tonight and no offs.. so was a good nights racing for me.  Axel clipped me from behind, but not his fault as everyone including Cookie were all very gentlemanly drivers tonight.

Cookie only nudged the rear of my car due to close racing and my fault for a slower corner entry, remember fellas im not as quick as you lot.. I also think at one point Doni was coming up fast behind me and Im guessing he had to brake a bit harder than he expected as he was running faster than me, so I may have caused him to brake and take a little evasive action.  my apologies mate if I put the fear of christ up you.. I didnt mean it .

overall went well. was big fun.   i bettered my practice PB by 2 secs , then shaved another 2 seconds off in the race.  The litte Fezza handles lovely.  I was going so much better than during praccy so ended up with all my gearing a bit short and was running out of Revs to often.

had a bit of decent racing to start and then caught up onto the back of the bunch again and had some fantastic last 3 or 4 laps to end the evening, For that I must Thank Eric.. it was good fun mate.
