Season 41 – 1955 Grand Prix – Round 5 – Privateers - Valentino

The fifth race in the 1955 Grand Prix series finds us at Turin in Italy. Parco del Valentino (also known as Valentino Park) is a popular public park in Turin. It is located along the west bank of the Po river.  Several races were held here between 1935 and 1955, it is the 1955 layout that we will be using for this race.  This is a very challenging circuit with virtually no run-off areas, plenty of undulations and blind corners.  Discretion is the better part of valour for this track. The 1955 race held at this circuit was a non-championship formula 1 race called the VII Gran Premio del Valentino. The race was won by Alberto Ascari in a Lancia D50. This was Lancia’s first ever victory in a Formula 1 race.

Please note: We are using the v3 version of this track. It is the final and best version with a new layout, new objects and new textures. Ginetto also moved the Start/Finish line to the correct place according to pictures from the real race in 1955. We are NOT using the older version which has a track directory called turin55.

Hi All, Ihope this isnt another "Dundrod " moment, but the track we are using tonight is Torino ?  not Torino 55 ??

track download is as above.. Torino V3  but this loads into or updates Torino. not the torino 55 track folder.

I only ask because I have both folders, Torino & Torino55, seems a bit odd that we are not using the 55 track for the 55 Race.

its probably just me who is confused .. Huh

tonight should be fun. see you all later.  I didn't like the 55s that much but Im startin' too !!

'torino' is the correct folder. This is the latest and best version, version 3. Don't be confused by the folder name. Likewise, the 55s were not my favourite to start with but, oddly, I seem to be best at driving these and the 71 Can AM cars. They both seem to suit right-foot brakers and left-foot clutch users like myself. Drive them like a real car with a real shfiter and NO paddles. Yuck to that!

To my knowledge, number of tokens are not working to mods other than F1 67

That's why this is indicated on the racepost.

Hi David.   Thanks for that.  Shows I had not read the racepost.. guilty as charged.

Not sure what is similar in French,  but in English it would be "R.T.F.M"

A slow start saw me chasing David R with Paul V chasing me . We played swings and roundabouts for most of the race until David had a quick spin which let me through . Surprised to find I was on the bottom podium step at the finish after Mad Dog retired his Maseratti Banana !

Still the champagne tasted just as sweet as P1  Grin

Grats to all finishers , commiserations to all those brave souls who fell by the wayside  Roll Eyes

Congrats podium & all finishers.

Not the best day to be in a Maserati.  Maybe next time!
