Lap 13 Sassoon Straight – Bernie Darwin and Fabio Locarno
Fabio runs wide at British Colonial Loop which allows Bernie to have a much faster exit out of the corner and he is miles faster down the following straight. As he approaches Fabio’s gearbox, Bernie pulls over to the left to make the pass. Fabio can see defending is futile, so he keeps to the right-hand side of the track. As Bernie flies past for some reason he drifts right and although Fabio is practically on the white line, contact is made. Both cars spin out. Fortunately, Fabio can continue and although he has lost a little time, he maintains his position. Sadly, Bernie is upended and is out of the race as his Lotus comes to rest on its roll bar.

Fabio did nothing wrong.

The track surface at this point is rather featureless and to get a decent visual cue as to the direction of travel, the driver has to look at the track boundary. Bernie didn’t do this and so he drifted right before he had cleared Fabio’s car. Consequently, the responsibility for this incident lies with Bernie.

Season 41 1967F1 PRIVATEERS – Round 8 – Oakes Field

The 8th and final round of the Season 41 takes us to Nassau in the Bahamas. The first Nassau Trophy Road Races meeting for Sports Cars was held in 1954 on the Windsor Field Course. For 1957, the meeting was moved to another airfield location, the 5 mile Oakes Course, which was closer to the main population areas on the island. The new course, despite being quite bumpy in places, was relatively well-received, though
there were a number of close shaves near the pits as it was too close to the racing line. To combat this, the race direction of the track was changed to clockwise in 1958. The circuit was also shortened to 4.5 miles by cutting out the original Blackbeard's Bend and Ecky's Twist, whilst a new left-right-left corner combination was built to connect the Sassoon Straight and Bethell's Pass, cutting out the tight hairpin which had previously taken the cars off the runway. Due to much needed track repairs and the lack of additional funding by the Bahamian government, as well as competition from more races running in December, the event was discontinued after the 1966 meeting. It is the clockwise 4.5 mile Oakes Course that we will be using for tonight's race.

Knocked over my PC & cracked the screen. It's pretty much unusable.

Managed to set up my backup lap top. Took half the evening to get everything GPL functioning. The main problem being the size of the screen & positioning it at a focal distance that I could judge where to turn without spinning. (12 inch screen v 22 inch is no comparison). Got myself prepared for qualifying only to discover the lap top could not cope with more than 30 fps.
Hopefully get the screen fixed before too long but I won't make any more races until then.

I don't know if anyone had a problem on lap 15. Look at the replay on lap 15, the screen started to freeze and I lost complete control of the car. After a few meters it stabilized again, did anyone have this problem too?

I did not. My problem was that I rear-ended David. That didn't knock him out of the race, but it did seem to put him on the road to ruin. I had a reasonably steady and error-free race apart from that. It doesn't help. There's no excuse for rear-ending another car. As they say, je suis desolé. It's a terrible way to end the best season I ever had in any league anywhere.    Sad

Sorry to hear of that, but good it resumed.

Looking at the server replay & using GPLRA quality analyse for your laps 13-17:
  • Lap 13: Online quality of lap data: 100%,  Largest Online gap: 0 seconds **
  • Lap 14: Online quality of lap data: 100%,  Largest Online gap: 0 seconds
  • Lap 15: Online quality of lap data: 61%,  Largest Online gap: 17 seconds **
  • Lap 16: Online quality of lap data: 100%,  Largest Online gap: 0 seconds
  • Lap 17: Online quality of lap data: 100%,  Largest Online gap: 0 seconds **

** Also indicating "Possible partly loss of data due to accelerated time or other disturbance"

Checking other drivers (Fran, Fabio, Axel, Eric, Pepe, Albert, Dave R, Paul) for laps 14-16,  I see their lap data quality as 100% / no gaps indicated.

Philippe: lap14 quality 99%, gap 0 seconds.   Lap15-16: 100% / gap 0 seconds

So from server replay point of view, seems to have been just you affected.

Cheers,
Dave.

Online problems used to be frequent.  High speed connections have MOSTLY made those a memory from the past. Undecided

Technical issues kept me from the practice session, with only 1 lap available to set a grid position. Spent the opening laps recharging the directional memory banks, with several sideways moments thereof.  T'was not what the Doctor ordered! Cheesy

Towards mid-race. car and track were looking good, so I promptly blew it up!  It was fun while it lasted.

Bravo Philippe for the Privateers championship .

it's a pity Pepe rearended me early (begin of lap4) in the race.
It could have been a fun battle between us for the final P2 on the championship.
Except this incident, Pepe you did a great race and a great season.

Grats to all winners and losers and a big thank you to the mods,  the unsung hero's of UKGPL

I had points to burn for this race and tried the Lotus and Eagle in practice but could get nowhere near a decent lap time with either chassis . In the end I went with Lotus with a tail happy set up .

My race finished with a collision when overtaking ( I did manage 1 overtake ) Fabio , report submitted ! Not that it will do any good or make any difference at this point in the championship , but hey ! we have to give the mods something to do or they might be taking redundancy !

The replay is there - but on the next page.
Or, easier to find if using Sort -> Date.
