Season 41 - Winter Fun.  F2 cars at Ingliston.

FRIDAY 16th DECEMBER

I know that this is very short notice but let's try Inglistone on-line with a full grid Smiley  This fun event is OPEN To ALL and a good opportunity to see if it gets a place in S42. Thanks for your help. Oh, GLA and take care at the hairpin. I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback and comments after the race.

Choice of ANY F2 Car

Please let me know below if I can expect to see you on the grid. Many thanks.

Pete

This is a FUN event but please try to save the chat until everyone has qualified and completed the race so as to avoid any lag issues.

You may drive ANY of the F2 cars. Let's try to make the grid as colourful as possible so that the screenies look cool.

UNLIMITED Shift-Rs allowed with NO need for a Stop and Go. Please use PRIBLUDA to make sure that the track is clear before re-joining.

There is absolutely NO MODERATION but that's not an excuse to misbehave.

I will try to be there. The F2s are amazing here.

So far I'm a second faster in the 65s.. overdriving again.

This track is a mini-masterpiece.  As a test for a future league events, 2 short races may have been a better rehersal.  Many parts and appendages will need a reset, before the day is done.  Shocked Grin

This is a good idea. Let's leave it as it is for now but perhaps further 'Sprint' races could be tested over the Christmas break. Clive was keen to try this in the '1967 F1 Trainer' cars. Hope to see you tomorrow.

I really hope the test is a success, but not sure I can join tonight. As a young boy I always got excited when we drove from Glasgow to Edinburgh on a weekend. I'd always know that between the end of the motorway and the airport that we might just be lucky enough to see racing cars flicking through the trees and bends. Never got taken to the races there sadly, but the few seconds you'd see passing on the main road beside the track was enough to tell me it was a challenge to get round.

Arf, I had no idea you were a 'local' to this track. In fact, I got this photo from Iain Nicholson (owner of https://www.ingliston-circuit.co.uk) and you can see the A8 running very close and parallel to the back straight. Perhaps you're in one of the cars  scooter driving past? Give us a wave.

Hi guys,

Thanks for giving up your Friday afternoon/evening to join in the fun. I'm not sure why I only had 23 laps as I had 150 in the season file (this should equate to 45 at INT SHORT). Never mind, I'll investigate at the weekend. Grats to all finishers.

Still, a lot of fun and NOT the chaos or carnage that I thought it might be. Tracks like Boreham (shameless plug) offer the complete opposite which I consider to be more suitable for online league events. Anyway, thoughts please... Shall we include this one in S42 somewhere? What do you reckon?

RACE 2: Congrats to AG on the win. Only a small grid this time, but I did have time to make it a loose one. Sorry about the tight one in Race 1. Some super close fun in this one. I had to reset at the haripin on L1 as my car broke. Sorry for the bump I caused. Sorry if you missed out on this race. A last minute decision and perhaps I should have made the qualifying session longer. Apologies if you missed out. See you at the next one.

Thanks for building the track Pete and organising some Xmas fun.  It was shaping up to be great fun for me and I'm sure for all the others.

The first laps were as intense as I expected and I was just beginning to settle into the race when my graphics started dipping?? A lap or two later things were getting worse,. On this tight track it was likely that I could take out  around half the field if things got really bad, so I quit.
Turns out that Microsoft frowns on some of us having fun and decided to force an update onto my PC at the critical moment. Undecided

I had postponed the update a couple of times in recent days, but it appears that Microsoft retains the right to do it when they want to.

I suppose it was better that it happened during a FUN race and not a full on LEAGUE race?

There was great skill and judgement shown by competitors, this day, except for being a lap short on fuel. Cheesy  I think both track, and pack should pass scrutiny.

My race 2 DQ reason unknown, but practice was ending when I arrived, which was not normal, and may have kept some from joining.

Clive I disable and stop Windows Update service on Services.msc before any race to be sure.  Wink

The two heats were a blast!  Really a treat to drive here on such a fine production.  But oh my!  Talk about frenetic!  Very little chance to take a breather.  In the second heat, I was able to hold off the much faster Dino in Fulvio's hands which goes to show that a slower car well driven...ahem, ahem...can do wonders.

Looking forward to seeing this circuit on our sked in the coming season.

Best to All for the Holiday Season!  Smiley
