It could be called an oversight, but I'd not driven the Vanwall much. So, I'd not noticed the Widescreen recently switched to, had made the cars low mirrors unviewable! I had no time to reflect on my mistake. The old 4x3 had not needed a Widescreen patch.
Sat on pole position as a guest driver, with the Championship at stake, somewhere, rearward and nearward.
This was not ideal, so I tactfully left the track once on lap 1, to see who was behind me, once they were in front. It was Francesco, who had camouflaged his car in green. I soon realized, this was not a team mate, but an Italian Demon, who quickly had me seeing a lot of dashboard red. Whereupon he fled! One of his new bullet proof gearboxes, working well.
My panoramic viewpoint was working well a couple of times, as a mirror substitute, This allowed three more marauding Maserati's to briefly pass into view, before saying, "Adieu!" Mirror problem solved.
Many congrats. to Phillippe, Francesco, and Bernie, as the three fastest to survive, ye rigors of 1955.
