Moderator's Report

A good start to the season with NO reported incidents. The only comments have to be about the start. Fulvio has admitted responsibility for the crash at the start and we have put this behind us. As he said, "More patience needed at the start". A good reminder to us all. Races are LOST and not WON on the first lap. I put this incident down to start-of-term excitement. Please take care on Lap 1 of the next race as the track is very narrow and offers few passing places.

Hi Mods, why does it say I had a Disco.  I was 2 or 3 laps down but did finish and cross the line ? well 4 laps perhaps..

The importer arbitrarily puts disco when it can't work out why a driver is several laps down. This happens a lot for accidents and mechanicals that are not recorded in the replay details. However, the mods can manually amend this as I have done on this occasion.

Unlucky Pete. I assume you were joining via the GPL Multiplayer Interface through local IP. Joining my server via iGOR doesn't work for me.

Doh! I'd tried literally everything else, including a Linux Time-Machine restore, but not the local IP address. So b****y obvious now that you say it. As Paul says in his post, 25 years of GPL and still learning new tricks. Still, I tested positive for COVID (again) today so my brain is a little frazzled; not thinking straight at all so I guess I should be pleased UKGPL 07 was up and running at all.

Paul, I've not published the IP address for UKGPL07 as I believe it changes each time. Mind you, if I had joined the grid, there wouldn't have been room for all of us. 19 starters today.  Grin

Phil, thanks for your kind words about Will's driving. Yep, he's grown up a lot and now 'gets' GPL. He had a fantastic race with yourself, Clive and Bob. I remember when I was new to this a couple of years ago; I've learnt a lot from you guys on how to race and Will would have learned a lot today at Aintree. Cheers. Go TeamTobo.

Grats to the podium and all finishers.
A fun race for me in the screaming BT7 and surprisingly found myself not as outgunned as I expected. My start was about as perfect as I have ever had in any car and I jumped a couple of cars on the run down to T1, at which point Tristan and myself tried to occupy the same place in space and time.

From there it was a long chase to regain places and working out how to get my underpowered car past more powerful beasts. For the last 10 laps there was a great battle with Andreas, but although I felt slightly quicker, I could not overcome his power advantage on the straights and in a "do or die" effort on the last lap I ran off the track. Fortunately the gap back to the following car allowed me to still cross the line in 6th.

Grats to Will. you most definitely appeared to have "got" the idea of GPL and were impressively quick and consistent........someone to watch in the future I fear  Wink

A quick note for Will and Bob. Your national flags are not showing up in the race results. To fix this please go to your Profile tab (one of the blue buttons at the top of the page) and then under "League Info" -> "Driver Details" there is a drop down for you to select your country flag.

I have since checked why I couldnt reset my Car.  maybe just my keyboard but a right hand shift button plus R doesnt work

Did you insist several seconds doing shift+R ?

After the crash at the start, I could continue without reset but my left front tyre was quickly overheating ... so I went to the grass and tried to reset with shift+R  but it was only possible after waiting 30/35 seconds until all the following cars had overtaken me.
Maybe in your case, the other cars (including leading cars) were too closed to allow your reset ?

Finished Lap01 fully 33 seconds down in P18 on Leo up there on the point.  LOL!

This thanks to being mugged coming off the grid and getting involved in an all-mighty shunt.  I've been knocked about a bit before in my time but this was epic.  Picking up the pieces, I just put my head down and soldiered on.  Got a few places as other fell off the road to ultimately be chasing Fulvio but making no impression.  As it worked out, I ended up dueling with Alain in the BT7 and we spent many a lap in close formation.  I got the distinct impression that he was faster but didn't have the opportunity to make a pass.  For sure, he was ready to make a bid on the last lap but slipped off the road to give me a breather and let me cruise in for P11.

Scoped the 'On Track' laps stat.  Not impressed, boys.  Please do not try to save time by cutting corners.  It raises questions as to ethics and fair play.

Thanks for hosting!

Doni and all, all my apologies to be the cause of the start disaster. At start the two cars ahead were a bit slow so I moved quickly, a bit too much quickly  Embarrassed, to the right forgetting there was Doni on my side. We tangled and made a big pile up with all the cars behind. I restarted dead last for punishment but soon saw Doni stopped with engine blown. After a couple of errors in the early laps cause shame for the big crash, I settled my mind in catch mode to regain some position, always with Doni as a shadow behind me  Smiley
At half distance I could see Will and Bob ahead but a couple of little mistakes didn't let me to catch them.
Next one with more patience at start  angel

You get a 10-place grid penalty for that, Fulvio.  Grrr...

Smiley

Seriously, though, I have the utmost respect and admiration for your skills and attitude.  This was just a 'one off'.  We now resume our normal programming...
