F1 69Xtra – Round 4 –  Nürburgring - March 5

Next stop of the 69X F1 at the "green hell" Nürburgring - some love it, some fear it...  Grin

In S42 the tokens system will be used with drivers being awarded tokens for starting the season and for starting each race. Each car will cost a number of tokens per race.
Check the Season 42 details regarding rules and the 1969 F1 Championship pages in particular.

Important - please read it

A few drivers were unable to race in the first two rounds because the server was full and there have been a number comments regarding the mixing of drivers of different abilities on the same grid. Consequently the mod team have decided to split the grid into Privateers and Works drivers. From now on there will be two servers, one for the Works and one for the Privateers. The moderators have allocated drivers to either Works or Privateer status. If you would like to change your allocated status, please post your preference in this thread.

Drivers must complete 50% race distance to score.

With the usual repositories not available, does anyone have any pointers for downloading/obtaining stable 1969 car setups for noobs?   (or are the defaults actually quite good ? / or maybe some creative file renaming?).

Cheers,
Dave.

I find the default setups OK but for this circuit I've had to change the ride height (increase) and bump rubbers (increase) to cater for the undulations. I've tested the Lotus 49 but if I use any front wing (it doesn't have a rear) the car nose dives over the jumps and the rear is very light over the bumps, so if I take the 49 I'll be running with no wing. Hope that helps.

I registered on Friday, can you please confirm me, Cookie?

Dave, I did a couple laps in the M7 last night with the def setup, wasn't bad, I'll lengthen the gearing slightly then should be a good basis for fine tuning, I reckon

Cheers,

Bob

ok thanks for the replies.

I had tried all the cheapest cars (I won't make 25% !)  and they were all undrivable,  so at least that has confirmed it's me!
Will have another go later.

Cheers,
Dave.

As Phil said the most important thing is that here on the Nordschleife the car don't hit the ground. So go high with ride height and bump rubbers. Also stiffer the suspension could help. Set the gearing for Topgear on Döttinger Höhe and on you go!

IMO the cheapest winged car will be miles away from the best no-wing

The Pit Stalls for the Privateers have been set to the straight after Pflanzgarten II. This means you won't have to complete an entire lap before being able to start a qualifying lap and set a lap time. However, please be careful in qualifying and stay on the racing line (i.e. left side of the track) after Pflanzgarten II.

So, are you saying that winged cars are faster or slower than the non-winged cars?

On a twisty track a wing makes a better handling.

i'm really sorry claudio, i did my best behind you, the whole race i was much faster. at the time of the accident, I thought I had an opening, but I was wrong. it shouldn't have ended like this. My apologies, I was too impatient without doubts  Angry
