Moderator's Report

Summary
A hectic race with Pepe Higdon emerging as the winner after a late surge by David Rainier who secured second place ahead of Dave Curtis.

Server replay time: 0h05m14s

Lap 4 After turn one – Fabio Locarno and Francesco Molteni
Francesco takes the inside line around turn one and Fabio takes the wider line. As they exit the corner they are side-by-side and accelerate towards turn two. Turn two is a left hander so Fabio starts to move to the right in order to be on the racing line. However, Francesco is already there and contact is made. Francesco loses a wheel and is out of the race, Fabio can continue.

Francesco did nothing wrong.

Fabio should have known Francesco was alongside and he should not have moved over. Consequently, the responsibility for the incident lies with Fabio.

Yes.  I was just coming here to post that peice of information!

UK clocks are also changing overnight tonight (forward 1 hour),  so for any non-Europeans,  you may need to make an adjustment.

Yes, UK changes to BST (British Summer Time) tonight so the race start will effectively be an hour earlier tomorrow. The registration threads always show the time zone for the UK. I think most european countries change on the same day but I'm not sure about North and South America.

After five starts with Hondas, I've accumulated enough credits to drive better cars for the remainder of the season. Tonight it was the big gun's turn, the only Lotus in the field. I managed to place fourth on the grid behind Eduardo, Ricardo, and Cookie. With the drop of the flag, Ricardo stomped on the gas and made a graceful swerve to the right from his lane directly into Cookie's path. That collision put Ricardo's Ferrari on its roof and Cookie --- who must be wondering now how to get through the first lap at any track on the schedule without being popped in the face --- back in mid-pack. Eduardo had a lead of a couple of seconds over me, increasing it by a second or so every lap or two. Dave Curtis was a few seconds behind me in his Brabham. All of a sudden I was feeling pretty chipper in second place with the fastest car in the field under my butt.

That feeling only improved on L8 when Dave went deep into the weeds at the T2 hairpin, dropping him 18 seconds behind me. When I crossed the S/F line three laps later, the pit board advised that Dave wasn't cutting into my lead and that Eduardo's name had been replaced as leader by a blank. ¿Que paso? On the next lap the board told me I was the leader with about a 17-second lead over Dave. "Okay, Pepe," I said to myself, "not even you can throw away a lead like this when you've got the best car in the field."

Dave and I continued to run at about the same speed for almost the next 20 laps. On L30 he went wide into the grass in T5, allowing David Rainier to sneak past into second overall. "Not to worry, Pepe," I consoled myself. "David's Ferrari is no match for your Lotus." I probably should have spent more time looking at the road instead of talking to myself. On L34 I made the same mistake in T5 that Curtis had made. Now my 15-second lead over David had been cut to five seconds. All I concentrated on now was the hairpin, the only corner that truly concerned me. Rainier was gaining a second every lap or two, pressing hard and inviting me to make another mistake. Somehow I didn't, but he fought right to the end. The margin between us at the checkered flag was nine-tenths of a second. Yeah, I'd held on for the win, but he deserved the Driver of the Day award.

Race of two halves. First few laps were bad. Like many drivers I was caught up in the start line bust up & at the back of the field. Silly spin on the second lap & then fell off the road twice whilst battling with Bernie. Both my own error - nothing wrong with Bernie’s driving. Once I did find a gap I was running 5th of those who were left but Pepe had lapped me. I was able to follow on a similar pace to the Lotus & when the leader took an unscheduled trip across the infield I unlapped myself. Eric was next up the road but a good 40 seconds which I could only make a small dent in.

Took the Coop because I was still learning the track in qually and didn't really think I would finish the race . Chuffed with P6 even if I was last man standing , must thank all those who fell off for one reason or another and especially Billy for keeping me alert for most of the race , that was a great move you pulled Billy , I tried hard to get the place back but it was no contest once you got by .

Hi guys, unfortunately I couldn't participate yesterday because after a few test runs my PC broke down. The CPU cooler holder is broken. I managed to perform a miracle by repairing everything and replacing the part but unfortunately when I left you had already left for the race. Okay this was a real failure not a simulated failure. Let's hope better for the next race.

Dave Rainier on a tear late in the race to challenge.

Billie and Bernie with decent results.  Well done, chaps.

I would like to offer my sincere apologies to driver Axel and the others that I have harmed in this race, I cannot understand what happened, I feel very ashamed of what I did at the start.
