Season 42 – 1967 F1 – Round 7 – Privateers - Boreham Airfield

The 7th race in the 1967 Grand Prix series finds us at Boreham Airfield in the UK. RAF Boreham closed in 1946 and subsequently the West Essex Car Club developed the 2.95 mile perimeter track into a motor racing circuit. Although not on the official Grand Prix calendar, Boreham Circuit hosted competitive races between 1949 and 1952. Among the teams that raced at Boreham were BRM, Connaught, Frazer Nash, and Talbot-Lago. Among the drivers who raced there were Mike Hawthorn, Stirling Moss, and Ken Wharton. In 1955 the Ford Motor Company bought the airfield to use as a test facility for trucks, as well as the base for their Competitions Department where they prepared their cars.

Sorry gents, no race tonight.
Getting an 'Error Detected on Network Device" message which won't let me join the server. I think it is an issue with the Norton virus software. I tried allowing GPL programme & even turning of the virus protection - same error message.

I apologize to all who came near me in that pathetic first lap of mine. If I were the league administrator, I would ban me from further participation this season. I accept that punishment and well deserve it. It was not for lack of practice or skill. It was just one error after another without end, all of which were preventable by even the most hopeless rookie. I'll see you next season, if you'll have me.

Hi Pepe,

Its a shame if your race wasnt so good, it happens. Dont give up mate. you wont be banned... just hide and lay low until the next race  Smiley Grin

turned out ok for me in the end as i managed to finish. that was good. But my early laps were also dreadful.    The Lotus I took because it seemed OK in practice. ( but we all make mistakes eh !  Huh)

I had practiced in the Brabham and the times were exactly the same, but felt the lotus would be a bit quicker when the tyres warmed up and I settled down, but the Lotus for the first few laps was dreadful.

then even 5 or 6 laps in the Lotus just wanted to keep swapping ends. felt like my mechanic had put the steering rack in the rear of the car.  I had spin after spin.

I just eased of and took it easy. as the race went on the car came back to beeing fairly stable so I just did my best to bring it home. Had some good laps towards the end which made up for the early grief.

I like this track but its not as simple as it looks.  24 yrs and I still love GPL.  but its a bugger sometimes.

I sincerely hope my spins didnt cause any problems for anyone else.

Some really good times for an Amatuer race.  As it stands until I see the Pro times, Axel has set a new Track record.  I got a new PB  Undecided

Cheers for the racing guys and mucho gracias for the Organising .

PV.

You saw the stupid mistake I made in Rio Cuarto at the start. I got mad at myself, and I even took Axel out of the race, and I made some mess there, luckily we are human beings and prone to make mistakes, so I tell you never stop racing , you are an example for us. Congratulations on your dedication to the gpl.

Front Toe > 0   Shocked Shocked

I always use Front Toe < 0 and Rear Toe > 0
but I should be wrong as you are quicker than me.
