F1 69Xtra – Round 7 – Dijon-Prenois 81 (V2)  - Apr 30

Next stop of the 69X F1 finds us at Dijon-Prenois, it is a 3.801 km (2.362 mi) motor racing circuit located in Prenois, near Dijon, France. The undulating track is noted for its fast, sweeping bends.Opened in 1972, Dijon-Prenois hosted the Formula One French Grand Prix five times, and the Swiss Grand Prix in 1982. The non-championship 1975 Swiss Grand Prix was also held at Dijon.
Look for the 1979 Gilles Villeneuve duel with Renè Arnoux at Dijon-Prenois track where both are racing for the 2nd place!!! https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1pnmn

In S42 the tokens system will be used with drivers being awarded tokens for starting the season and for starting each race. Each car will cost a number of tokens per race.
Check the Season 42 details regarding rules and the 1969 F1 Championship pages in particular.

This is a fun track. A new one to me and I'm enjoying it a lot. It's just those cones that are causing me a head-ache.

RS - so sorry! Last lap and I rear-ended you. I was hoping to scare you into making a mistake as you had run wide there a few times on earlier laps. I misjudged your speed and couldn't quite stop in time. This was my last chance to gain a position. So sorry.

But on the plus side. That was FUN FUN FUN.

Thank you and sorry. Moderators - that was completely MY FAULT.

it was really a great race, it was well disputed, from start to finish it was a shame that touch, I didn't even imagine that you would try something there, it was a shame that you left. Maclaren was great in the corners.

Very light grid for the Privateers event,  but congratulations Philippe - you were in a class of your own!
With such a huge gap to PG's pole time,  I knew he woud just drive off / I just needed to drive steady laps.

This is a great track!
I thought it was a new one for me,  but seemed to pick up which way the next corner went from yesterday.
From just checking my race history, seems I have been here a coupld of times before - but was absolutely years ago/different mods,  so no wonder it did not seem familiar!

DR was clearly having some car issues,  but looks to have kept going past half distance.
Congrats to Paul for making it to the end to claim the last podium position.

Despite turning out to be a lonely run,  was still a fun outing.  Thanks all.

Cheers.
Dave.

Suffered a power cut, just as I was joining the track!  It lasted 1 hour - just long enough to prevent a start.  It's all highly suspicious . . . grumble! hammer

the week before the race,I tested most of the cars, the mc laren is clearly the best.
it was literally glued to the road in the curves.
usually, I always make a few mistakes, but there, on this very difficult track, with the mc laren, no off-track.

awesome.

pity for the low participation grid.

well done dave, paul,
well done david for the championship!
too bad martin, you missed a great evening

thanks for the organizers,

it was a shame that you left

Yes, after my BRM crash, the PC froze on the grey static screen and I had to restart PC. I'm pleased to see that you could still claim P5.

Once again, I made a stupid mistake after 7 or 8 laps and lost a wheel when i hit a wall...
I was an easy 3rd not taking risks, too slow to follow Philippe and Dave but enough quick vs Paul and Albert.
Then I made 11 laps with 3 wheels, just to score points.

I got a good start and picked up a couple of places when a few cars ran wide or had other issues. So at the end of lap 1, I found myself behind Andreas who was providing a great tow down the long straight. I tried to hang on but Andreas was gradually pulling away and in my desperation to stay in touch I was overdriving the car and I eventually lost the rear and any chance of keeping up with the Ferrari. Having lost the tow, Pete and Ricardo started to catch me. I made  more mistakes which made their task easier and before long they sailed past me. The next person closing me down was Miguel, I tried hard to stay ahead but with 2 laps to go he was on my gearbox and he made a clean pass into turn one. Great move, well done. I tried to fight back but it was a lost cause.

Grats to Uli, a dominant win and an incredible pace. Without GPL Rank up and running, I'd no idea what a good lap time was here. I managed to get into the 1:21s in testing and couldn't see a way to improve, so when qually began and Uli started posting 1:16s, I knew I was very slow Shocked.  In an effort to go quicker I increased the wing from 9.25F, 9.25R to 12.5F, 12.5R. Looking at the GPLRA report, I don't think it made much difference to my overall lap times. I think my main problem was a lack of tyre temperature. I'll try a different chassis in the next round, I don't seem capable of getting the best out of the BRM Roll Eyes.

At WEEKLY are some lap times to get a picture: http://www.formulado.hu/weekly/index.php?p:crank/track/Djn/F1%201969/

Grats Uli for a nice win.
My race was not very exiting, I had to keep my car on the tarmac,
the two in front too fast and no pressure from behind - so I had 2 spins when my thoughts drifted away luckily without consequences.

Congratulations to you Enrique and Axel  thumbup2
and many thanks for the perfect organisation

For me it was a very special race.
In Dijon, on this very circuit, I saw the Grand Prix de France of 1977, 1979 and 1981 live. 1979 with 120000 spectators. This race is considered as one of the best F1 races of all times - especially the Arnoux versus Villeneuve duel the last three laps! For those who have never seen it here is the LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzGcm28AOb8

I have a lot of great memories of these race visits - which motivated me to invest once again in a good preparation, which after the frustrating engine failures in the past two races finally led to my first win this year and on this track.

This time everything just went without problems, except for the one or other lapping. They cost me up to 2 seconds per lapping but fortunately my lead was big enough. 1979 Villeneuve wasn't so lucky to have such an advantage ...

See you in VIR
