Hi guys.

Apparently we have a new FPS mod. This time it's an upgrade from 60, to 144fps.
Have anyone tried it already? My PC is on the closet ATM, so I can't check it myself.

I was in the test team

It works with windoze on a better pc np
but not without problems in linux/wine ( vsync! )

Yes driving is smoother if you have constant 144fps
with even smaller collision spikes you can do closer fighting (theoretically!)

BUT
the whole gpl physics is accellerated (flagmen) also in the game menues - Lee had to tweak a lot...

IMO a good use of modern hardware in training mode but yet problematic for online racing

You need to place the 77G 144 fps v1.0.xml in ...gplsecrets/gem+/options folder to see it

As previously mentioned in this thread, Lee Bowden has released an initial 144 FPS patch for GPL.

With SRMZ still out of action, details are also over at the GPL Alternative Forum:  http://gplaltern.gplracer.eu/showthread.php?tid=449

If anyone is interested, there will be a test event this coming Thursday evening at Spa67 with  '67 F1 cars.

Online test event details: http://gplaltern.gplracer.eu/showthread.php?tid=471

Patch details are at the first link/with the download,  but a few choice comments from the documentation:
  • Provides up to 144 Frames Per Second in Training and Multiplayer (Online) modes.
  • If using a monitor with less than a 144 Hz refresh rate, turn off VSync!  VSync limits the FPS to the monitor's refresh rate.  Expect possible screen tearing with VSync turned off
  • Don't expect to see 144 FPS at all times as FPS depends on your PC's cpu and graphics card capabilities.  It's not unusual to see less than 144 FPS on high demand tracks such as Spa 67 in the pits.
  • Best Lap times are not saved to the player.ini file.  This prevents mixing of 36, 60, and 144 FPS best laps at GPLRank.  If further testing shows that there is no appreciable speed difference with the patch, this limitation will be removed in a future revision.

Ideally any good/bad feedback to be passed back to Lee.

UKGPL12 is patched & I'll leave it running.
If you are considering joining on Thu (or just curious!) please test!

--

Personally, my ancient player machine has a 10-year old ultrawide monitor which is not capable of 144 FPS.
For this test, I need to disable vsync to get over 60FPS indicated as stated in the supporting info.

Cheers,
Dave.
