Season 42 – F1 67 WORKS – Round 8 – CURITIBA

The 8th race in the 1967 Grand Prix series finds us at Curitiba in Brazil.
The story begins in 1959 when a group of businessmen led by Flavio Chagas Lima announced a new project for a sporting complex in the Pinhais municipality of Paraná state. By 1966, the circuit had been completed, save for asphalt surface. The oval outer course stretched for 1.68 miles and was intended for testing, while the twistier 2.61 miles road course would see the racing action.
Both courses were run in an anti-clockwise direction in this first incarnation. The circuit was designed to be fully visible from all spectator vantage points and boasted amenities including a go-kart track and a large parking area.

This should tell us, the track builder has hidden some extra grip somewhere, hiding under the grass, which we must find. winkiss

That was a lot of fun racing with Philippe and RBald (sorry, I don't know your first name). The BRM was lots of fun on this fantastic track. Bravo Jonny for the win and for such a great track. Well done to the podium, espiecially a P3 for Phil.

Well I managed to convert a P3 on the grid to a P3 on the podium. A great result for me, I usually make a stupid mistake and drop down the order, but not today Grin.

I knew JonnyO and Leo would be too fast so I tried to ensure I drove at my pace and wasn't tempted to take risks in a futile attempt to stay with them. It worked but the consequence is that I never made a competitive pass all race. I'll take the points though, that's two Works podiums this season, I'm happy with that thumbup1

I confess that I was quite nervous before the race. When you make a track, all you want is to see everyone able to do the race, without disconnection problems due to a track problem. This was a great happiness, to see that in the two races apparently everything went well.
I knew it would be competitive, because Lotus in Curitiba works almost alone. Leo had a great pole position, but I suspected that he would be conservative at the start, so as not to have any surprises with the Eagle's engine still cold, and he would race for the championship, especially with the absence of Greg Taber (which happened to Greg ??) , and also because Tristan was having a slow BRM .
I think what I imagined actually happened, on the straight at the start I could see that Leo didn't force the Egle in the high revs and could take turn 1 in front and maintain a constant pace until the end. It was great to win again!
Thanks everyone, and thanks for the words of support for the track guys.
Hey Phil, you've been evolving and you already seem used to the podium!!!

Thanks everyone, and thanks for the words of support for the track guys.
It is a great track JonnyO, thanks for building it. The sticky grass and well placed obstacles make for great on-line races. No corner cutting and running wide is punished appropriately  thumbup1.

It has only taken me 21 years and 993 league races to progress this far. I wonder how much more evolution I need to actually win the Works  eek

Congratulations Jonny for the home win and Phil for the back to back podium!

I knew Jonny would come up with a statement: "this is my house", and certainly it is, though I could still sneak in a pole with a PB  Wink

Come the race and Jonny had a great pace and since I had blown an engine in practice, wouldn't be wise to try and keep up with him, so I was managing Phil distance, who was most consistent to the end  thumbup1

I did myself no favours by spending a lot of seat time in the morning at the computer dashing about Rudskogen in iRacing FV's and FF's.  I ran off a whole slew of races to the point that my vision was severely compromised by the time for our Curitiba event was due to run off.  My prescription eye drops helped save the day but even they can't work miracles.  Late in our race, my left eye was next to just along for the ride.  Still...  A P5 placing was a welcome relief after a string of poor results.  I'll take it.

Great job for the win by Jonny.  Leo a good P2.  Phil a standout run for P3 despite a little drama on Lap 21.  Flirting with a disaster there but he survived it.  Smiley

Not too much to tell from my race.  Picked up a slot on Lap01 and held it to the flag.  Had a couple of opportunities to make life interesting for Renato when he had some dramas but he picked up the pieces to motor on to P4.

TY for hosting!

Forgot to mention...

I see by the results posted at the top of the page that Phil has adjusted the laps recorded.  For some reason, Renato and I were not scored for our last of the 34 laps.  I believe we saw this at Guapore as well.  Jonny?  What is needed to fix this?

Forgot to mention Jonny,

When driving back in to the pits, at practice and in race, there was no pit board for the pit stalls.

Also, at the garage, fuel consumption shows 999 laps regardless the amonto o fuel.

I've seen this before with a corrupt track.ini on the player machine - so may be worth checking your track.ini looks ok?

I had the same issue, but the fuel level diminished with each lap during practice so I could work out how much go-juice I needed. Not that it made any difference as I binned it within 3 laps!!!  Sad

Ah that's right Smiley  there was also a track.ini update for this track as referenced  in the event download link.
(Also available from: https://gpladdons.the-fastlane.co.uk/trackaddons_list.php?q=(TrackID~equals~125) may just involve easy account creation to enable downloads)

Original track.ini:   track_length = 3,95km
The later track.ini: track_length = 2.454m

So may be worth checking / updating for next time.

Same for me, when I realized that I had not enough gas I pitted to refuel, but no pit board was visible, so I had to stop at 3 laps to go.
I have to say that I installed the track at very last moment and din't check the update for pit.lp.
I'll check if that works right.
