Moderator's Report

Summary
A win for Cookie after Ricardo was demoted a place following an incident. The final podium spot was claimed by Mikos.

Server replay time: 0h01m09s

Lap 1 Baixa – Ricardo Valim da Silva and Axel Cookie
Ricardo makes a great start and is ahead of Cookie as they enter Baixa. The cold tyres do not give Ricardo the grip he needs and he runs wide which gives Cookie the opportunity to overtake on the inside. Ricardo manages to avoid the grass but he cannot accelerate until he has managed to turn the car and point it in the right direction. When Ricardo does get on the gas, Cookie is ahead but his car is not visible from Ricardo’s cockpit view. As the cars accelerate way contact is made and both cars spin out. Fortunately, both drivers can continue.

Cookie did nothing wrong, he kept to his side of the track throughout.

Ricardo ran wide and in was off-line. Consequently as he accelerated away the car rotated and he drifted onto Cookie’s side of the track. Despite applying some opposite lock, contact was made with Cookie’s left rear wheel. Having made the mistake and opened the door, Ricardo should have expected a challenge and should have stayed wide. Ricardo is responsible for the contact but the slight loss of control is a mitigating factor hence the extra place penalty for a lap 1 incident is waived.

Season 42 – 1967 F1 – Round 8 – Privateers - Curitiba

The 8th race in the 1967 Grand Prix series finds us at Curitiba in Brazil. The story begins in 1959 when a group of businessmen led by Flavio Chagas Lima announced a new project for a sporting complex in the Pinhais municipality of Paraná state. By 1966, the circuit had been completed, save for asphalt surface. The oval outer course stretched for 1.68 miles and was intended for testing, while the twistier 2.61 miles road course would see the racing action. Both courses were run in an anti-clockwise direction in this first incarnation. The circuit was designed to be fully visible from all spectator vantage points and boasted amenities including a go-kart track and a large parking area.

This was a hotly contested race, which for me came in two halves. Smiley  My pitboard had an exciting first half, after the 2 leaders clashed at the first corner.  This had given me a clear track ahead, and a bungee chord behind, attached to an Eric.  With each small mistake, the hard won gap I'd made would close.

At mid-race, the pitboard showed three different pursuer's in only 3 or 4 laps!  The front row had survived their clash, and I needed to press on, without my tyres going off, if I was to win.

Second half, and I found some extra grip beyond the braking point for turn 1.  Another couple of errors and a freight train had passed me by.  It was all highly suspicious! Angry

After the race, I noticed the number I'd been given.  It was the dreaded number 13!  It was no wonder the car started to misbehave under such a handicap.
