A HUGE sorry to Bob W for the HUGE rear-end-shunt on Lap 1. It's entirely Cookie's fault  Tongue

Basically, I was lost. My Dundrod track folder has been causing me some grief so Cookie kindly sent me his. It looks VERY different to the version I was used to so I simply didn't know where I was. So, actually NOT Cookie's fault at all. Just me being lost and not concentrating.

Far too many 'offs' tonight to be enjoyable but still a great track. Each time I got Angex within site, by BRM jumped into a field. So annoying.

Grats to all pods and finishers. Thanks to Cookie for organising and sending me the new track. No connection problems with this version. Thank you Smiley

I was pleased to get pole but Greg's fastest lap surpassed my time by some considerable margin. I had good pace but I was on the ragged edge most of the time in order to achieve it. Consequently I went off too many times and tangled with Tris on several occasions. I tried to circulate with Tris to wait for an opportunity to pass but in order to do that I was too close to allow myself a bit of leeway in case one of us made a mistake. Equally when I was ahead and Tris was close behind, my lines were not consistent enough to be predicable which made it difficult for Tris. I'm relieved it was a fun race, I wouldn't like to be involved in similar shunts in a league race. Sorry for the contact Tris, but it was good practice for me. I don't often get the chance to race with you, you are usually miles ahead.

Grats to the podium. Greg and Cookie were very fast and consistent.

Is it me or does anyone else have 'moments' on this track where you just plain forget where you are.  The bit you are expecting when you come round a bend isn't there & the car flys into a hedge or a bank or a ditch. Must be a symptom of getting old.
I can actually remember most of the Nurburgring - not this one.

Got my GPL problems sorted ( kind of ) just in time to join for qually . Don't know these cars well enough , spent the time trying to sort my G29 wheel settings ,  "trying" being the active word , why do they have to make things so complicated  Roll Eyes  No setup so spent qually sorting the BT11 as best I could only to find I was woefully slow in the race crashing out every lap trying too hard .
Sorry if I had anyone off due to my tribulations .

Grats to the fast men on the podium

Grats Greg, just 2 sec too fast  Grin

I drove my own race - 95% to be save and it worked.

Some seem to have problems with old track versions - here is my track folder to try: https://www.mediafire.com/file/ust11qoo5v9z7k8/Dundrod.7z/file

Congrats Axel and Jonny! I thought you drove well Axel. A quick spin and a fair bit of caution as I lapped other cars dropped my lead to 4 seconds late in the race.

I got lucky Uli did not appear to really show us how it´s done. It was interesting to see the times I posted are very similar to the times I ran in 2014. A better gear set might make me a little faster.

Billy, I would guess it is inexperience if you can remember Nurburgring. All the laps I have run at Targa Florio and it is still not unusual for me to forget where I am at times. I had forgotten sections of this track on my first two laps in practice. By the end of practice I knew where I wanted the car on the track most of the time.

This time I wanted the lead at the start. I thought I might be able to hold the lead if I could break the slipstream. I pushed myself and the car the first 3 laps to break any tow Axel might get. After that I drove similar to Axel, just be careful and try to avoid any accident or spins. I was cautious as I started lapping cars, although I did not hesitate to pass Billy. Dave was very considerate slowing before T1 to let me pass. I thought I might have to wait until the next long straight.

Phil might have had some good speed for qualifying but he sure did not have the consistency he needed for the race.

I found this interesting and I thought Axel and Phil would too. A new lap record by Peter Hickman at Isle of Mann and a demonstration lap by Milky Quayle of a new camera setup. These are more good examples of what a great job Mr. Pearson did with IoM.

Thanks for fun gentlemen. I appreciate it.

You are absolutely right there Greg.

I normally qualify on race fuel but given that the extra weight makes quite a difference in these little cars I decided to try a minimal fuel load for qually. It paid off this time.

Although the race was a bit of a disaster, I'm quite pleased that the pace was there. From now on, Im going to stop focussing on outright pace and start focussing on my racecraft (as Cookie appears to have done here, circulating at 95%). That way I might be able to secure some better results in the coming season.

Sorry for quitting early last night, but it was one of those evenings when sheer frustration got the better of me.

Grats to those on the podium and to those who actually finished.

My challenge in the BT7 was probably a bit too much, but qualifying on race fuel I hoped to be competitive. The BT7 is down on sheer grunt but handles quite well if the gears are set right...mine were not perfect. when I did find myself behind a recovering Phil or Tris I was definitely fast enough through the twisty bits, but down on top speed ( 6th gear was too high). Somehow, somewhere during the race I simply lost the rhythm and after 2 resets I figured enough was enough.
Good fun up to that point........I think  blink
