Season 43 - 1955GP - Round 1 – Aintree

The first race in the 1955 Grand Prix series finds us at Aintree in England. Aintree is located in the outskirts of Liverpool in the north of England. It is where Stirling Moss, driving a Mercedes, won his first British Grand Prix in 1955.  After a race of 90 laps, Stirling finished in a time of 3h 7m 21.2s, just 0.2 seconds head of his illustrious Argentine teammate Juan Manuel Fangio. Mercedes dominated the race with a 1–2–3–4 finish with Karl Kling and Piero Taruffi driving the other two Mercedes cars. The first British driver / British car victory in a British Grand Prix was also at Aintree in 1957, when Stirling Moss and Tony Brooks shared a Vanwall.

Please note: Aintree has generous run-off areas so please respect the track limits. Please check the rules regarding corner cutting (see last bullet point under the General section on the Racing Etiquette page) and the Penalty Guidelines for a bad rejoin.

Yes. There are only 3 full time Am (Privateer) drivers and 3 reserves registered. Given that there is never a 100% attendance we are likely to only have 3 or 4 drivers in a race. Not enough for a separate server.

I'm not seeing the 55 icon in the first column on iGOR and I can't join.

Is it me?

Hmm.  It might be as the Brazil 55 event looks the same.

I can join via IP.

I have always joined via IP since you demonstrated that my graphics card wouldn't work properly if I used iGOR.

Problem solved.  I had iGOR looking at the wrong GPL install.    whistling

You hadn't registered for this championship Albert. I've just manually registered you so you should see the password now.

Pete, I had a CTD after I hit the wall during my offline practice. I suspected that it was the 55 mod, but that is just a guess. I also noticed that my frames per second dropped to 35 on the first lap.

All was good until I scraped the wall late in the race. The damaged car was hilarious to drive. I hope that I stayed out of the way. The car was predictable enough that I felt like it was still safe to drive.

Good race everyone, I am all smiles.

Hi Fran.   I had passed you earlier. I thought it was a bit tight and perhaps a bit cheeky...  I was going well and i was faster than you.

I could have beat you to the line, but I could see that the PRO guys were catching and to be honest I made a Big Error..

I thought you were PRO driver so to stop you being held up and because I had the win in the bag for the AM division, I gave you the Place back .

DOH !!

LOL.
