Season 43 – 1967 F1 – Round 7 – Privateers - Bathurst The 7th round of the 1967 F1 Privateers championship we visit Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit Bathurst, a motor racing track located in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. It is best known as the home of the Bathurst 12 Hour motor race, held each February, and the Bathurst 1000 motor race, held each October. The track is 6.213 km (4 mi) long, and is technically a street circuit, as the circuit is a public road when no racing events are being run, and there are many residences which can only be accessed from the circuit. The track is an unusual design by modern standards, with a 174-metre (570-foot) vertical difference between its highest and lowest points, and grades as steep as 1:6.13. From the start-finish line, the track can be viewed in three sections; the short pit straight and then a tight left turn into the long, steep Mountain straight; the tight, narrow section across the top of the mountain itself; and then the long, downhill section of Conrod Straight, and the turn back onto pit straight to complete the lap.

Good race all and congrats to the podium!
I am sorry to Cubbie for spinning in front of you. I arrived at turn 2 a little faster than I planned, and then I slammed the brake in a panic.
I had a great race with Cubbie, Billy, Paul and Albert for most of the race. I just need to be a little more patient with my overtakes next time. My race ended on the last lap on the back straight. I over revved my engine and it blew up.
I had a lot of fun. I owe Cubbie more racing room next time.
See you next time! Walter

My heart in broken, however, I am so happy with my driving. Such a strange situation. I did a new PB in qualy and was able to start in P3, however, the Lotuses, compared to my BRM, were just faster. I knew I don't have a big chance with pure pace, but my consistency might've goten me more than just podium. A good battle with the pole sitter at the beginning after his slow start, however, he overtook me like he had a DRS with his powerful Lotus shortly after this before turn 2. Than he made a mistake and lost about 25 seconds. I had my chance for P2 now. P1, Pereira, made a big mistake as well and now I was in P1, about to fight till the end for my first UKGP victory on my debut. However, 7 laps before the end, at the jump before the final corner, the engine had enough and blew from P1... Such a great feeling driving finally here though. Will be back next time, hopefully with some tokens and a chance for a better car. My live stream replay: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1988117059BTW, does anyone have the replay, as I am making the highlights now.

Thanks Walter & no worries. I was having a better race than I expected here and that 'clip' busted up my rear suspension, so was out shortly afterwards. All good practice for next season!

I had a PB in qualifying that gave me the pole by 1.25 seconds over Moises, but he too was in a Lotus and I knew from bitter experience that even if I could hold him off for a while, he would eventually wear me out. And if he couldn't do it, then there was Dimitar (a new guy in UKGPL but known to me for his steady driving recently in the oAo winter series), Dave Rainier, and Eric right behind who would happily make my life as miserable as they could.
It didn't take long. With my masterfully inept entry into T1 --- known as Hell's Corner for obvious reasons --- after the green flag dropped, I found myself running third behind Moises and Dimitar. On L4 Dave got by me when I made a mistake near Frog Hollow, and Eric passed me when I made smacked the car into the Armco barrier at Sulman Park. Somehow the Lotus seemed unaffected by the battering I was giving it, but I was just angry with myself at that point. I knew I could turn good laps but I'd been acting like the rawest rookie. "Just put your head down and drive this beautiful car instead of kicking it down the track."
It didn't take me long to catch Eric's Honda. That put me 16 seconds behind Dave. I caught him on L14 when he lost it coming out of the final corner of the esses. Now I was back in 3rd, 18 seconds behind Dimitar. On the very next lap Moises, the leader, had a contact with a backmarker approaching the final corner. That gave Dimitar the lead. But he retired after blowing his motor cresting the end of the straight. That gave the lead back to Moises and put me in 2nd, where I was more than happy to finish.

I might be a rookie in GPL, however, I am more than a veteran sim racing driver with 16 years of experience. BTW guys, I can only see the replay from the Works race.

I couldnt get anywhere near my PB time for the Brabby (2m 4s ish ) for some reason iGOR had loaded different set ups for the race than I had used in pre race practice . I made a hash of lap 1 , played catchup for a few laps but the Repco engine cried enogh and popped its clogs on L10 .
Grats tp the podium boys . great drive in the BRM D.D. NiceDebut !
