Moderator's Report

Summary
A win for Peter Lohmar in a Cooper with Dave Curtis claiming the runner up spot in his Honda. A well-deserved third place for Pepe Higdon another Cooper.

Server replay time: 0h02m09s

Lap 1 – End of Avenida de Antunes Guimarães – Bernie Darwin and Fabio Locarno
Fabio makes a mistake under braking with cold tyres and spins. Miraculously he doesn’t take anyone out, but he ends up facing the wrong way with half the field bearing down on him. He waits for everyone to pass bar the last car, Bernie Darwin. For some bizarre reason, Fabio tries to perform a 180 in front of Bernie’s BRM which only results in punting the BRM off into the straw bales. Bernie is marooned and out of the race, Fabio can continue.

Bernie did nothing wrong.

Initially Fabio did the right thing, he waited for most of the field to pass before he tried to recover. He just had to wait another couple of seconds for Bernie to get past but instead he jumped the gun and took Bernie out.

Server replay time: 0h05m55s

Lap 1 – Last corner – Francesco Molteni and Ruy Petra
Ruy is very fast and is trying to find a way past Francesco. After being all over Francesco’s gearbox he drops back and is 5 or 6 car lengths behind Francesco as they approach the final corner of the lap. Francesco starts to turn-in but Ruy has left his braking too late and can’t avoid clipping Francesco’s rear wheel. Francesco’s car is catapulted out of the race, but Ruy can continue with his car apparently undamaged.

Francesco did nothing wrong.

Ruy was much faster than Francesco and was trying to find a safe place to pass. Ruy left his braking much later than Francesco, but he wasn’t going too fast, Ruy would have easily made the corner. Francesco was simply being very cautious on cold tyres and Ruy was caught out by the speed differential. Ruy was not trying to overtake at this point, he was trying to keep a safe distance, nevertheless he was responsible for the incident.

Season 44 F1 1967 PRIVATEERS – Round 2 –  Porto 1958

The 2nd round of the 1967F1 Season 44 will be held at Porto. Circuito da Boavista is a street circuit in Porto, Portugal, which was used twice for the Formula One Portuguese Grand Prix. The original course began at the harbor-front 'Esplanada do Rio de Janeiro', continued on 'Avenida da Boavista', (hence the circuit's name), and then twisted its way through small neighborhoods back to the start-finish line. The first Grand Prix was held in 1958, and saw an act of sportsmanship by Stirling Moss. Moss came to the defense of his countryman and title rival Mike Hawthorn, who faced a penalty for having driven towards oncoming traffic after a spin. Moss persuaded the stewards not to disqualify Hawthorn, who retained his second place and 6 points. Hawthorn eventually won the drivers championship by 1 point over Moss.

THERE ARE MORE THAN 19 REGISTERED DRIVERS IN THIS SERIES, SO :

The second bend after the front straight into the entrance to Avenida da Boavista is among the most dangerous ones we'll see on the calendar in this race series. I hope that we all try to keep our aggression under control on the first lap at least until the field is through those bales and decently sorted out. Under the best of conditions there is not the tiniest room for error in that eye of a needle. And even if no one has gone to heaven or a hospital in the first 30 seconds of the race, I'll still bet that the following two 90o left-handers will produce at least three accidents altogether. If I'm wrong, you can call me Sally.

Porto is a Portuguese word that means, "Where broken dreams go to die."

There's one other thing. You've got this listed above as 16 laps. We'll be through with that in under 40 minutes. The registration page shows this race to be 21 laps. This conflict needs to be clarified ASAP.

With you Pepe.

And the tram lines into the 1st 90 left and T1 that will catch you out if you don't pay them hommage
and... the weird camber out of the 2nd one that will send some cars wobbly

My dreams keep getting broken in the adhesive hay bales.  The track looks innocuous, but isn't
All the old hands will have been here before, so will laugh in the face of danger "HA"
but us new boys can happily tremble in fear.  hang

You should use patch "77c Pit Stop V1.00" which allows you to refuel !

I always have the V1.0 Pit Stop patch enabled because if I short fuel in a PRO race it allows me to refuel and hopefully finish the race.

It is an allowable patch as detailed here.

DON'T USE V2.0 or V2.02 because these incorporate tyre wear.

1st of all sorry to Albert for the shunt going into the second 90 degree turn. In the replay, I could see that you needed to move a little to the right to go around a Honda in the braking zone. My PC frames were stuttering a little and I made contact before I knew what happened. I swerved to the right immediately. The crazy thing is that I bounced against the wall and I rejoined seamlessly alongside Eric. I felt bad for Albert especially since you were driving the Eagle.

This was a fun track. I took my Brabham setup from Mt. Panorama. I knew from my practice laps that the key would be to survive to the end. The problem is that I have to much fun pushing the limits at Porto. My race ended on the 7th lap when I went nose first into a hay bale. Congrats to the Podium finishers, thank you to the organizers. I'm looking forward to the next race.

I had a PB in practice immediately before qualifying, but Moises and Pete Lohmar were so much faster than I was that I was happy to take third in qualifying and just try to protect that position for the next 21 laps. It wasn't much of hope, to be honest. In more than two weeks of practicing at least one hour every day, I'd never managed even once to complete a full length race either in training or against the AIs. But with just two guys in front of me, I hoped that if I didn't bog down at the start, I might at least get through the entrance to Boavista, at which point I could just try to stay steady. But for Walter's Brabham in sixth on the grid, all of the top eight cars were Coopers (like mine) or worse.

To my astonishment, everyone got through the bales at the entrance to Boavista in one piece. I'd predicted last night that they would be at least three accidents in the next two 90-degree left-handers. There were twice that many, one even taking out Moises, the leader, on L2. That put me in second behind Pete, also in a Coop. But I've raced against him in oAo for the last five years and I know what he can do. All I could hope was that he wouldn't gain more than three seconds a lap on me.

And he did, but I held onto second as if my life depended on it. Dave was just two seconds behind me. Ricardo and Eric were maybe ten back. I was never going to shake those guys, but it was clear that their Hondas didn't have enough speed coming out of the corners to overtake the Coop. At least not until I carelessly spun the rear wheels exiting the left-hander at the end of Boavista on L10, letting Dave by easily. Only by the slimmest margin was I able to keep Ricardo behind me. That error cost me about 13 seconds, most of which I never recovered. It was the only serious mistake I made in the race, but it was enough.

Tracks like this, Dundrod, Brno, and Sachsenring have some sort of macabre appeal to track selection committees. There is no conceivable way to minimize the dangers lap after lap because the entire track is a war zone. When I see them pop up on the schedule, I just sigh and hunker down. Maybe, like today, I'll get lucky. If I do, the next thing I'll be looking at is a big glass of red wine.

Privateers have a very high level, this season.
Peter Lohmar would have finished 2nd in the Works race !!! (and Dave Curtis 5th).

As usual, my main goal was to finish (or at least to do 50% of the distance).
I finished the race but struggling with the steering wheel after I hit a concrete wall just after mid race.

Thanks Guys

I will do the patch  Cool

Looks as though the link on the referenced  page is to OLD SRMZ.
Had a quick search on gpladdons-fastlane but could only fine v2.0,  same at Lee's GPL Motorworks

However, v1.07 is available from UKGPL s42 replay area. Direct link

There's no readme included,  but I'll paste the info from v1.00 below.  (I don't know what the difference between my v1.00 & v1.07!)
Is straigntforward though - add the xml to GEM options, select it to enable,  raise arm to refuel once in your pitbox.

Quote
Pitstop Patch 77C  v1.00
Lee Bowden
22 May 2014

Here is a patch for GPL that simulates refueling during pitstops.  It may be used both on and offline and works with all mods and tracks.  Refueling is historically accurate for only the '67 Sports Car mod, but other mods may use it as an additional fun factor.

Installation Instructions:
Copy the 77C Pitstop v1.00 .xml file to your GPL installation's "Mods/GEM+/mod name/options" directory.  If you don't already have an "options" directory, you should create one first.

Start GEM+ and check the 77C Pitstop v1.00 checkbox.  Start the mod.exe using GEM+'s green button and once on track, enter the pits and begin refueling.

To disable the patch, simply deselect the patch's GEM+ checkbox and restart GPL.

If you have installed multiple mods, you will need to copy the patch to each mod's "options" directory.

What Does The Patch Do?

1.  On reaching the pit stall, the pitboard will go away.  If you want to refuel, raise the driver's arm which is normally activated by the space bar.  After a short delay, the pitboard will begin to flash on and off indicating that refueling is in progress.  Once refueling is complete, the pitboard goes away entirely.

2.  The car is refueled to the setup menu fuel load.  Players can adjust their fuel load to trade off quicker lap times versus the time it takes to enter the pits and refuel.  So for races, players may use different fuel strategies.

3.  The refueling rate is approximately 1.5 gallons/5.7 liters per second; however, there is a small random factor applied so that each refueling will be slightly different.  The difference between the setup menu fuel load and the amount of fuel onboard determines how much fuel is loaded.  In addition, 5 seconds is the minimum pit stop time regardless of fuel onload.  This gives the mechanics time to clean the windshield and empty the ashtray while the driver waves at the girls on the pit wall.

4.  While refueling, the player's throttle is disabled which prevents him from prematurely leaving the pit stall.

5.  Refueling works in all modes;  Online, Championship, Race, and Training.

6.  No repairs are made during the pitstop.

7.  The Pitstop patch is compatible with the Weather patch.

Enjoy the patch.
