I always play by the rules.... they are MY rules!

Messages have been exchanged behind the scenes and it has been provisionally agreed that there should be a REAL WORLD get together this year. It just did not happen in 2023, for all sorts of reasons, but we are determined to do it this year.

We have identified the Masters event at Brands Hatch as the venue ( https://www.brandshatch.co.uk/2024/may/masters ) on 25th/26th May. Currently Phil Thornton, Billy NoBrakes and Evilclive are down to be there for the whole weekend. The programme of races looks like it will include some of the cars that we have available in GPL, but the Brands Hatch variety will be bigger and noisier. With free access to the paddock we can get up close and personal with some pretty awesome machinery.

Being eternally optimistic about the British Weather, we are proposing to make use of the FREE campsite for the weekend probably arriving on Friday ( to watch practice ) and maybe staying until Monday to avoid any traffic issues. Having attended Brands before we can say that the catering at the Octagon restaurant is excellent, with cooked breakfasts and a decent selection of evening meals ( and of course there is a bar  Wink ) .

Of course if camping is not your thing we would love to meet any fellow simracers just for the day and spend some time discussing the finer points of world politics, cars and UKGPL simracing!!!

It would be great to see some of the people that we compete against each week in our virtual world, but "in the flesh". Don't be afraid of getting out from behind your monitor and sniffing Castrol R on the wind, we usually have a great time with some lively and humorous discussions after a few beers. Plus of course if you opt to stay overnight, there is no driving home after  Wink.

Personally I find that knowing what Phil, or Billy actually look like when I am fighting them around Monza, or wherever, makes GPL racing so much more real.
If you think that you are likely to attend, for the weekend of for just a day, please post here so that we can get an idea of numbers.

It would appear that plenty of you have looked at the original post.........but no-one is committing  to joining us at Brands??  Maybe it is just too early with the event at the end of May??

I would love to come out to play, but Brands is a bit far, Silverstone or somewhere midlands would be easier.

Sadly a darn long way and the wrong side of London to boot!

Added to which I couldn't spot a decent caravan site with serviced pitches!

Typically, that weekend Will and I are at the other end of the country playing Brass Band stuff near Manchester https://saddleworthwhitfriday.co.uk/

We might be able to make the Sunday if we're free. As for other events, we're booked into camp at Donington at the end of April.  https://www.donington-park.co.uk/2024/april/btcc#:~:text=Saturday%2027%20%2D%20Sunday%2028%20April%202024&text=The%202024%20Kwik%20Fit%20British,for%20a%20third%20successive%20season.

Join use there if you fancy it. We're camping Fri and Sat night.

I reckon that brass band concert will be noisier than the Lola T70s and GT40s at Brands! Have a great time Pete, I hope you win  thumbup2

Sorry I won't be able to make Donnington, I'm off on holiday the following Monday. I'm sure you will have a great weekend.

Doni sounds closer.
Saddleworth is just over the hill from me, before I became old and slow I used to peddle a course up from Newhey
down to Denshaw, and up to Grains Bar, then down to Milnrow Rd and back home.

I downloaded the Beal Valley track versions, and the section from Grains Bar to Goats (never heard that point called that)
is walking distance.

Have we ever run an event here?

Yes, three races. See here. A great track IMO.

Nostalgic idea for me, my father used to live in West Kingsdown & we'd go to meets at Brands regularly in the late 70's early 80's.
Sadly being in Orkney it's a little too far for me, but I hope you have a great time.  Smiley
